my fandoms have

Apr 16, 2009 12:42

I was looking at some jaw-droppingly delicious Sharpe fanart the other day, and an epiphany hit me: I suddenly realized what my fandoms have in common - or rather, what it is that the characters I swoon for seem to (mostly) share.

My fandoms have spiffy jackets with lots of buttons. )

fandom, hornblower, photos, random silliness, sharpe, due south, cowboys

Oh I remember watching this. I was flicking through the channels when I was suddenly presented with Spike in Cardiff. Or something. Torchwood cracks me up. And that is a serious amount of buttons.

All he's missing is the gold braid.

Hee, he stole Darren's jacket!

I didn't get that far in Torchwood. The WTF quotient drove me away after 5 or 6 eps. Also, it doesn't count unless they are actually buttoned up!

His jacket is buttoned up at one point. Um, I think. Briefly. (I don't know, it's not like I watch TW to think. I watch it to flail and squee and act entirely ridiculously over, much as with DW)

Hee! Let me guess, you just saw Nos's post? I admit to spending far more time than really needed drooling over there, la la la.

First Meres, then Nos and then you, all in one reading! I'm half convinced that my Firefox is going melt from the incendiary pretty that's in three of my tabs because really? That's some illegal levels of kerthudded right there!

Uh, yum. That is yummy fanart. Maybe I ought to investigate this Sharpe thing (which I had never heard of before you started talking about it).

I'm getting into Master and Commander, actually. Are you into that? (I mean, there are buttons.) I loved the movie and the first book, and I've been reading some fic. Mostly, I love Stephen Maturin and identify with the geeky naturalist stuff he's doing all the time. : ) But the ship stuff is cool, too.

Okay, I'm convinced--I'll check out the Sharpe series. : ) Actually, I think I have music by John Tams somewhere in my (huge) music folder.

Also, I need to get myself some more of the Master and Commander books.

oh, and one more thing isiscolo April 16 2009, 19:40:17 UTC
You will LOVE the music with Sharpe. Not the inappropriate battle music, but the theme and the incidental folk music. John Tams, who plays the strangely attractive (to me) Hagman (I like 'em tall and lanky) does the folk music - he's an amazing singer - and it's just great.

I do love Darren's outfits. Particularly at the end of that sequence of ridiculous-but-justifiable costumes *g*. Orange jacket! headband! scarf! gold braid! He's like Panic at the Disco distilled down into one person.

Ah, 'appen. You just stay here and I'll sort out Napoleon in a no-nonsense Yorkshireman sort of way. In other words, I may have sort of noticed some of the recent re-runs of Sharpe. *g*
