Um. You know the saying, "Be careful what you wish for?" I think I shouldn't have
complained about the puny pathetic excuse for a snowstorm that we didn't have yesterday. Because it started snowing in earnest sometime in the middle of the night, thick, wet, heavy snow, and sometime this morning a ginormous tree limb fell on our pickup truck and smashed the roof all to hell, shattering the rear window and bending the supports. Oh, and it knocked a power line down on top of it, too, so I just stood at the door and wibbled until the power guy came to disentangle it.
The insurance company said that the earliest I can have it looked at by a claims adjuster is Thursday, WTF? And this is our only vehicle. And rentals aren't covered by our policy. Fortunately, we don't actually need to drive much (I telecommute, and my husband works mostly at home) - except that we're expected to go to the inlaws, 30 miles away, for Christmas.
The worst part is that normally we park in the alley next to the house, but on Sunday I got home from shopping late and left the car on the street in front of the house. And we didn't drive on Monday, so there it stayed. But since I was the person who parked it there, it is my fault.
(Also, there is at least one large tree limb on the roof. And every so often there is a huge ka-whump. I am afraid to go out and look.)
