This weekend is Emerald City ComiCon! I'm going to try and update for each Saturday and Sunday separately, as I completely failed at posting a write-up last year. I apologize up front for any inadvertant typos

I'm surprised Ashley hasn't died of joy yet. :D:D:D:D
Man, I would love to go with you to a convention sometime. It would be nice to actually talk to people instead of locking up and not knowing what to say. Or acting unbearably awkward like I did with Dustin Nguyen last year (I never did email him. Now I'm at the point where I can't because it's been too long & I'm afraid he won't remember me. :(( I am such a dork.)
Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and I can't wait to hear more about it and see all of your sketches!
She didn't get to talk with Geoff! D:D:D: He was late on Sunday (a lot of people were because of Daylight Savings) and he left early - seriously, he was on the convention floor for about an hour and that was it. It was really disappointing.
That would be awesome! ♥
Dustin does remember you! I mentioned my friend in South Carolina with the tattoo and he said, "Yeah! Of Robin! That was AWESOME!" So, you could still totally email him and he'd remember.
I need to make a post about DC Nation and Sunday... I am just exhausted today. We're planning on scanning on Thursday. Neither of us have cords for our respective scanners, so it's off to Kinko's we go. I can't wait to share!
I... am mostly clueless about so many of these names, but I loved reading your report! I never thought about commissioning artwork at a con - but maybe I'll do just that when I go to SDCC in a few months. Can I message you for some suggestions when the date (and schedule) gets closer?
I'm really so in awe of your comic book love and knowledge. While I still pick up graphic novels (trades? I never know which is the right terminology), I am hopelessly ignorant about the weekly titles. There are SO MANY! I would love to read the Supergirl stories (Lana! *bonus*), but are they available as trades yet?
I can't wait to see the scans of what you commissioned.
Oh wait, I did buy some art from Alex Ross from Dragoncon a few years ago. It was a simple pencil sketch of Psylocke. I didn't commission it, but I did like the drawing a lot and he did personalize it for me. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite my blathering about unfamiliar folks. :)
From everything I've heard, San Diego is an entirely different animal from the local cons, but I've never been to it to I can't speak from personal experience about it. If it's possible though, I'd say go for it! It's fun to see their different interpretations and you get a lasting souvenir that's truly unique. (I noted the artist we requested Cyclone from - his name's Ron Chan - check out his adorable Death!)
Can I message you for some suggestions when the date (and schedule) gets closer? I'd be happy to tell you what we did to prepare for ECCC and answer any questions you might have about commissioning artists (or anything, really). You're welcome to message me anytime about anything! ♥
I'm really so in awe of your comic book love and knowledge.*blushes* And I'm in awe of other peoples - lol. I think they call it an "obsession". *facepalm
( ... )
Oh wow, I'm jealous of the art sketches! I was at Dallas All-Con this weekend, which was fun, but no stand out artists to commission (so I bought a derby hat and a flight suit modified into a ghostbuster outfit).
Sadowski (Sp) especially as he draws a wonderful Toro =P The DC Nation answers were interesting. It sounded like he did the same dance he did when asked at comci con why all the "Love" Lanterns were woman. Bascially dodged it and said because men would look bad in the uniform >.>
so I'm coming up with males I think represent Love Better than Wonder Woman and making a joke violet corps of them also taking suggestions of you have any. This far we have Clark, Dick, Wally, Alfred, Ted Kord, Mr. Freeze and for the LOLZ Ollie
Sadowski is at ECCC every year as he lives around here. :) When I picked up the sketches on Sunday, he said, "See you next year!" because we got a sketch from him last year, too and were really pleased with this year's outcome.
I scanned them today - spent $10 at Kinko's - and saved them to the wrong drive. *headdesk* *headdesk*
Yeah, he's certainly dodging the question. I'm just hopeful we really will see Hawkman as a Star Sapphire because if his first incarnation can power their central power battery, his current/next incarnation can certainly get a ring.
Mr. Freeze and Ollie?!? For the joke violet corp? Lol! Hmm... Mr. Terrific for a Star Sapphire (losing his wife was his major motivation in becoming a hero), and Bane for the joke!Indigo Tribe as he's so protective of Scandal.
This sounds like so much fun! Though boooo on Geoff Johns for gender fail, lol. I shall give him the benefit of the doubt that the reason the Star Sapphires are mostly women and most women are Star Sapphires is just a sort of muddled sense that gosh, women sure dig love as opposed to anything really gross.
Loved Gates' thoughts about Alura! It's so cool to think people are taking her character seriously and thinking about ways to use her and have her in interesting relationships with others. I'm really hoping she survives this upcoming war...
It was lots of fun! Though Sunday was less so - I'm not very happy with Geoff Johns right now, lol.
gosh, women sure dig love as opposed to anything really gross Hmm... he also talked about how Star Sapphires include the less positive sides of love, like loss and he had total failure when he tried to explain why Ray Palmer became a Compassion Lantern; I wasn't convinced he should've been a Star Sapphire when he started, but I sure was when he finished. I'm really hoping for a Star Sapphire Hawkman! *want*
Sterling Gates was really nice! I really enjoy Alura and I hope she stays around as well. I'd miss her...
No problem! :D Now, if only I can get my DC Nation, and Sunday reports and my sketch commissions posted. *facepalm*
