This weekend is Emerald City ComiCon! I'm going to try and update for each Saturday and Sunday separately, as I completely failed at posting a write-up last year. I apologize up front for any inadvertant typos

I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite my blathering about unfamiliar folks. :)
From everything I've heard, San Diego is an entirely different animal from the local cons, but I've never been to it to I can't speak from personal experience about it. If it's possible though, I'd say go for it! It's fun to see their different interpretations and you get a lasting souvenir that's truly unique. (I noted the artist we requested Cyclone from - his name's Ron Chan - check out his adorable Death!)
Can I message you for some suggestions when the date (and schedule) gets closer? I'd be happy to tell you what we did to prepare for ECCC and answer any questions you might have about commissioning artists (or anything, really). You're welcome to message me anytime about anything! ♥
I'm really so in awe of your comic book love and knowledge. *blushes* And I'm in awe of other peoples - lol. I think they call it an "obsession". *facepalm*
It's funny, bookstores call all comic books "Graphic Novels" and comic shops only call books that haven't been previously released in issues "graphic novels"; then they call all collected editions in paperback "trades". They're have been huge meta arguments over the terms. *snort*
The first of Sterling Gates' Supergirl run is available in trade; it's called Who is Superwoman. It doesn't include issues #35 and #36 because they're collected in Superman: New Krypton, Vol.2. All of the Super books have been interconnected during the past year, but I think the only official crossover was the "New Krypton" arc. I have no idea how it reads without reading the others. Issue #51 of Supergirl comes out this week. Lana's been a supporting character in it since Sterling started on the title with issue #34.
That's really neat about the Alex Ross sketch! Most artists only do pencil sketches at cons, though a few include pen and/or ink wash and rarely artists do watercolor. Art Balthazar (the Tiny Titans artist) does crayon sketches for $1.
