Géza Alföldy. Just returned from the ceremony held at Heidelberg University in his memory. It was restrained and dignified. But now more than ever it's clear how dearly he will be missed by ancient historians all over the world. I'm just glad I actually had the chance to study with him.

I'm very happy at the moment because I've been chosen to attend a conference on Late Antiquity held in May 2009 at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Best thing: my university will cover all the costs - fortunately, because I wouldn't even be able to afford the flight to the US, let alone the stay there
