I really loved this. It is such a great look at Alan over the years- his solid sense of responsibility, the people he loved, the sense of growing old no matter how few lines have spread across his face. I snerked a bit at Ted Knight calling him on his self-righteousness, though don't quite *entirely* agree with him.

And I really liked your beginning, with The Widow... he is *such* a teenage boy, yet still recognizably the Alan Scott we know. Wonderful.

(One typo, though, you mentioned his alt. name as 'Sentinal' rather than 'Sentinel'.)

\o/ Yay! I'm thrilled you loved this! :D I think of you as the definitive Alan Scott fangirl and I'm delighted you think I managed to capture his essentials.

That Ted Knight scene may be my favorite of the fic - and it wasn't in the outline - it just came out one night after reading Strange Adventures. These guys are friends and neither of them pulls any punches when calling others out on their issues. I'm really happy both their points of view come through and that you were able to see the validity and the blind spots of both.

*breathes a sigh of relief about The Widow* I was worried about how that scene comes across. I'm really glad Alan's depiction worked there and that he was recognizably himself.

Meep! Thanks for catching the typo. Fixed now. :)

Really? And here I was already feeling a bit guilty for ignoring him ;)

I think that's one of the reasons I'm often drawn to characters with a lot of history between them, so I'm always glad when it comes across in fic. The oldtimers in the JSA know each other very well, but they're all extremely stubborn in their own ways.

PS, I was burned pretty badly by Robinson's Cry for Justice, enough to make me wary of picking up the Alan centric crossover. (!) Would you rec it?

Yes, exactly! Several times, I thought of including more Society members (especially Ted Grant), but that would've been a different story. I guess I'll just have to write more - lol.

I think everyone was burned by Cry for Justice (including Robinson). :/ Hmm... I'm really enjoying Justice League since then, but not for Alan. The story is really focused on Jennie and is more about the Starheart. (Plus Todd's been snarky.) So far, Alan's been possessed and is now being controlled by the Starheart (the whole thing - apparently he just had a shard) while the JSA, his kids and the JLA worry about him.

Oh god oh god oh god. I have so fucking much to say about this and I'm going to see you in an hour but ohhhhh.

Thank you. This is so wonderful and so full of everything Alan and I AM FUCKING DYING HERE.

I mean JAY. JAAAAAY. The way you wove him throughout the whole thing like he's so much a part of Alan's foundation that you don't even need to give him special 'significance' - Alan's subconscious just has him there. Being Jay and giving hope and joy and warmth and that poem!!!! I have to write it in one of my books now. Have to.

I DON'T EVEN THINK I'M MAKING SENSE RIGHT NOW I LOVE THIS TOO MUCH.

There are tears on my face I won't lie afjdalfal. Everything with Todd and Jennie killed me. Especially the bit about Todd's face being his fathers ajfla JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DID I MENTION THE DYING.

I will bore you with talking about this but for right now let me give you the highest compliment I can - this right here? This is worthy of Alan Suave-Ass Motherfucker Scott. You done right by him, Moony.

♥ until forever

This turned out so great! I'm thrilled to have gotten to see it as it developed. :D (And I'm sorry it's taken me so long to comment, I just haven't been able to find the right words.)

I love watching Alan grow through the story, both into adulthood and as a hero. I feel like I learned more about him through this story than I could've ever managed if I tried to dig though all of his canon on my own. And, of course, there the fact that I wouldn't have this wonderful story to frame his life if I did that!

I've tried and tried to be coherent about this story but I can't seem to manage it for more than a few sentences, so here: I LOVE THIS. IT IS WONDERFUL AND SO ARE YOU AND I'M SO HAPPY AND THRILLED TO BE READING IT (for about the 5th time now, because I keep having to read it over and over because <3333, and also trying to find something intelligent to say and failing, lol) BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH IN HERE THAT MAKES ME GO :D:D:D AND *MY HEART*.

So yes. BE PROUD, THIS IS FANTASTIC. *hugs you tight*
