A lot of what are considered "good choices" in FFT depend solely on which big, pain-in-the-ass battle is coming up next. There are four or five battles (not counting the endgame stretch and optional stuff) that are just torture, and most of my training goes straight toward preparing for those; I spend the intervening battles using whatever I have since it's possible to make pretty much any party work in this game, up to and including an army of only chemists or only thieves ( ... )

Huh, I didn't realize that stats were different depending on whether the characters were male or female. I'm not sure what I want to do with Ramza after he learns Dual wield, but I might take that advice and use him as my samurai instead. I know a few of the characters I'm using right now are going to be replaced by Balthier and maybe Luso eventually, so I don't really have definite plans for them either.

I'll probably work on leveling another character as a dancer, then, since I want to keep my current female melee generic as monk/thief for the most part. I've just been doing accumulate/focus leveling with JP up equipped to get as many jobs open as I can, so leveling one more person shouldn't be too hard.

The female mage has been a wizard for the most part, because I haven't looked into anything but that, summoner, and time mage... Going into this game from FFTA2 has made figuring out jobs for everybody a bit harder, haha.

I'm fairly sure the only important gender difference is the difference between inherent MA/PA... I can't remember if you can balance this out with leveling in certain classes or not, though, since I don't pay serious attention to growing any stats other than speed. (Which is easy, because who doesn't want to level as a ninja ( ... )

Is this the old school (Playstation) FFT or is it the new one? I can give advice on the old one...

It's the PSP port, but I think most of the game mechanics are the same! Or so says my brother, who's played both.

God, just do 10000 ninja/lancers (dragoons in new version). Easy-peasy.

Also, I can't remember if the JP trick works on the new version or not?

But basically - Ninja!Ramza is genius. :)

But I want cute mages too. :(

JP trick? The accumulate/focus spam thing?

Dual wield is pretty much my favorite thing ever in any strategy RPG.
