Journalism: bah humbug
According to this Dot Earth post in today's New York Times, CNN is dumping Miles O'Brien and the six producers who covered science stories with him. Hello? Don't they know that science and technology stories are relevant to the success of this nation and therefore need to be reported and discussed?
This just seems wrong to me. -

Anyone used Nvu?
Nvu is supposed to be the cross-platform open source HTML editor that replaced Mozilla's editor, which is what I used for Isher and the extensive site that comprises the Proni Digital LibraryExcept that this isn't nearly as easy as I remember... or can it be that 3 years down the road, taking more drugs than before, and being 3 years older, I just ( Read more... ) -
Thanksgiving ham
We're serving a smoked Virginia ham for dinner on Thanksgiving. Any suggestions for accompanying beverage? I'm leaning toward hard cider, but could be persuaded to go with a Reisling. Side dishes will probably be sweet potatoes or squash, spiced crab apples, steamed green beans, salad, maybe mashed potatoes with red-eye gravy. -
