Chapter 5: A Vision and A Jealousy Issue

Its been a while since the King and Queen left but Kazuya was just staring blankly at nothing in particular.

"Hey Kazu, how long are you just gonna stare there?" Yamapi nudged him impatiently.

"Pi...why can't I hate him? He's one of them. The blood of those who killed my people are in his veins and yet..." Kazu paused, seeing Prince Jin's face in his mind. A face so perfect, Kazuya thought he could fit right in as a Whisperer.

No he didn't hate him. He couldn't. He was drawn to him actually, curious of what he is if he's not sick.

He whined and Yamapi patted his back. "Maybe there's a good reason for all of these."

Kazuya smiled a little. "That sounds like something Mother would say." He meant Yamapi's mother.

Yamapi groaned. "Look at what you're doing to me. You are turning me into a motherly figure!"

Kazuya laughed at the ridiculous notion and Yamapi grinned.

"At least, you're laughing now."

Kazuya nodded gratefully. "Thank you Pi."

Yamapi ruffled his hair. "Let's go see the Palace's garden? I heard there are some lovely flowers there. I know you don't like to be far from nature."

That was the reason, aside from their constant hiding from hunters, that they spent so much time in the forest.

"Heard? From whom? You know Pi, you're starting to be a real eavesdropper."

"I am not!" Yamapi denied. "It is not my fault the maids here love to gossip and I happen to be nearby."

"If you say so," Kazuya smiled.

Yamapi matched it with a smile of his own. "So let's go to the garden?"

"Hmm, but shouldn't I be with Prince Jin?"

"Couldn't wait to see your beloved?" Yamapi teased.

Kazuya glared at him. "I meant, shouldn't I cure him now?"

"That's what I said. You want to kiss him already. What was the term you used? Ah, mark him as yours." Yamapi chuckled at the blush that blossomed on Kazuya's cheek.

Kazuya smacked his arm. "Why can't I have a serious conversation with you today?"

"Because you are too distracted by a certain Prince."

"If you don't stop it with the jokes Pi, you're in serious trouble."

Pi shook his head and placed his arms around Kazuya's shoulder. "You really need to loosen up. We'll go find that garden, let you feel nature for a while, then we'll head back to Prince's Jin's room. Sounds like a good plan?"

Kazuya nodded. "Lead the way then."

---------------------------------------------------------

After hours of circling around the Palace and still no sight of the garden, Kazuya was rethinking letting Pi lead the way. He had forgotten one basic fact - Pi was terrible in directions!

"Pi maybe we should ask someone for directions?"

"It's here somewhere," Pi muttered, still not giving up.

Kazuya sighed and leaned on a wall.

A part of the wall suddenly creaked on the pressure and moved back and then slid sideways, revealing a passageway.

Pi! Kazuya spoke in Pi's mind.

Pi glanced back at him and gave him a confused stare. When his eyes landed on the wall behind Kazuya, however, his eyes widened.

Let's explore? Kazuya asked in Pi's mind excitedly.

Pi's grin said it all.

So they entered the passageway. The part of the wall that moved earlier moved back to its original position the moment they stepped inside.

Darkness surrounded them but almost immediately, they were able to see thanks to the ball of light Kazuya made on his hand.

It was a short walk before they saw a light at the end of the passage.

Sunlight! Kazuya noted immediately.

He and Yamapi ran until they were out of the passageway.

And then they saw it. The prettiest garden either of them had ever seen. The glistening grass coated the ground and flowers could be seen in their full glory - some climbing ones scaled the high walls and the standard ones splashed colors on the ground and on the bushes. Some trees provided shady spots and was sprinkling the ground beneath with falling leaves. It was not a schooled, orderly garden most wealthy people have but the wildness and the natural scent of it all provided it with a distinct charm that made Kazuya think of home.

"Told you we were going to find it," Pi said smugly.

Kazuya raised an eyebrow. "I don't think this is the garden the maids were talking about. But it doesn't matter! This is lovely!"

But strange enough, when he looked at the colorful array of flowers, Kazuya remembered Prince Jin.

He saw an image of him, sitting on the grass, stroking the same flowers Kazuya was looking at now.

The Queen was beside him, saying something. Prince Jin shook his head and then lied down on the grass. He gazed up the sky.

In that image, the Prince's black eyes were filled with longing.

"...ya. Kazuya!"

Kazuya snapped at the trance-like state he was in.

Pi was staring at him, terrified.

What happened?

"Goodness, Kazuya! Don't scare me like that!"

"Huh?" was all he managed to say.

"I-I've been t-trying to...trying to get y-your attention and c-calling your name for quite a while but you...you weren't responding." Yamapi was obviously still shaken.

"Calm down, Pi." Kazuya hugged his friend back.

"No! I am not going to calm down!" Yamapi insisted. He pulled Kazuya closer to him.

"Let go of him this instant!" An angry voice demanded.

Kazuya knew without looking that it was Prince Jin. He could recognize that voice anywhere. He just didn't know why or how.

"I said, let go of Kazuya now!" Prince Jin bellowed, but Kazuya could detect a slight tremor in his voice.

Yamapi let go of Kazuya slowly and faced the angry prince. Kazuya did the same.

Prince Jin was standing not far from them, his hand resting on the brick wall near him for support.

He was shaking slightly from exhaustion and Kazuya could tell that he was trying to hide it.

You should be resting. He said in Jin's mind.

I could not just watch while some person is hugging you. I won't allow that Kazu, Jin retorted in his mind.

Kazuya gasped. Whisperers couldn't read people's thought on a regular basis but if they're in someone's mind and that person willingly and consciously talk to them telepathically, that's the only time they know what that person is thinking. But it was an ability that takes time for a human to develop. Who knew Prince Jin could talk back to him in his mind so easily.

"He isn't just any person. He's my closest friend and almost my brother," Kazuya said out loud for the benefit of Yamapi who was getting anxious with the silence. "And you really should sit down."

"Prince Jin?" Yamapi guessed. "I am pleased to meet you, your highness. My name is Yamashita but Kazuya calls me Yamapi."

"Yamashita, I am only going to say this once so listen well," Prince Jin said moving towards them on unsteady feet. He ignored the man's nickname on purpose.

"Kazuya is..." he swayed and Kazuya rushed to his side.

Prince Jin paused to look at Kazuya's face. "...mine," he continued before he crashed his lips to Kazuya's.

He ignored Yamapi's gasp in favor of Kazuya's soft lips. One taste of those sweet, addicting pair sent Jin into absolute euphoria.

And he didn't mind staying in that state forever.
