“What did you want to talk to me about?” Kazuya asked, his posture and even his expression stiff and cold.
Sitting opposite him on a café near his office was Stephanie. She had called him earlier and asked if they could meet. Just the two of them.
“I just…I just thought we should have a talk. To clear any misunderstandings you might have about me.”
Kazuya scoffed. “Misunderstandings…like what?”
“I don’t know. You tell me.” Stephanie’s eyes were determined. She refused to be treated like dirt. “All I know is that you always act coldly around me.”
Kazuya gave out a laugh. It was bitter and humorless. “Well excuse me for being cold to someone who seduced my husband.”
“I won’t deny that.” Stephanie shrugged, watching as the man’s eyes in front of her blaze with anger. “But I’m sure Jin already told you that he conveniently forgot to tell me he was already engaged to someone else at that time. I would have backed off, otherwise.”
“Would you have, really?” Kazuya insulted.
“Yes. I’m not a slut or a bitch. I’m no man-stealer either.” Her eyes softened. “And even now, I don’t intend to steal Jin from you. I think that’s clear with how I vanished for years. If Eiji’s sickness didn’t take a turn for the worst, I would never have even come here in New York.”
“Somehow I find that hard to believe.” Kazuya stubbornly kept his wall up.
Stephanie sighed and her eyes were soft and sincere as she looked at Kazuya. She knew that Kazuya was treating her like a threat to their family and frankly, he had all the right to do that. If it happened to her, if she was the one whose husband had an illegitimate child, she would have reacted the same way. So she understood every hate-filled word that came out of Kazuya’s mouth. That doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt, however. “Look, I just wanted to tell you that I have no intention of ruining your family. I’m not trying to disturb your marriage. I just really need your help now.”
“You won’t disturb us.” He sighed and looked away, trying to clear the knot in his chest. He should have known talking to Stephanie alone would stress him. “If you only get what’s necessary.” He looked at her pointedly and stood up.
“Kazuya,” Stephanie called once he was nearly out the door. “I’m willing to give anything and everything for my child. Even my pride. What about you? How far are you willing to go for Eiji? For Jin?”
Several thoughts ran to Kazuya’s head. How dare this woman question his love for his husband? But he decided in the end to be blunt and simple. “Jin is my everything.”
Jin smiled fondly upon seeing Kazuya sleeping on the couch. “I told you not to wait up for me,” he murmured.
He placed his bag on the floor and walked closer to his husband. He carefully carried the sleeping man up to their room. Once he had lowered him to their bed, however, Kazuya began whimpering as if in pain.
He immediately gathered Kazuya in his arms. “Hon? Kazuya, honey it’s okay. Come on, wake up.” Once Kazuya eyes fluttered open, Jin gave him a reassuring smile. “Bad dream?”
“Jin? Oh you’re home.” Kazuya looked around. “You carried me here? You should have just waked me up.”
“It’s okay, pretty. You’re not that heavy anyway.”
“Okay. But next time, just wake me up. You’re tired. I don’t want you taking additional stress.” He kissed Jin’s hand.
“Alright. What did you dream about?” Jin asked curiously.
Kazuya pursed his lips. It wasn’t a dream, it’s a memory. Stephanie and he did have that talk just several days ago. He didn’t think he’d dream about it. “I don’t remember,” he lied.
“Hmm is that so?” Jin got distracted by Kazuya’s scent. He smells so good. “Honey, how come you always smell so good?” He removed his coat and let it fall on the carpeted floor, followed by his tie as he nuzzled his nose on Kazuya’s neck, inhaling more of Kazuya’s natural aroma in the process.
Kazuya raised an eyebrow. I think I know where this is leading. “What are you saying Jin?”
“I miss you,” Jin whined. “It’s been two weeks since we made love, you know.” They had been too caught up with Eiji and also work kept piling up so both of them were almost always too tired to do anything but sleep at night.
“I’m tired, Jin.” Kazuya smirked when Jin groaned. He really wasn’t that tired. He had plenty of rest before Jin came home, after all. He just wanted to tease his husband a little.
“Please? I really need you right now,” Jin practically begged.
“You know I can never say no to you.” Kazuya sat up and met Jin’s lips.
Jin’s kisses were passionate and Kazuya responded in the same manner.
The bed welcomed their weight as Kazuya fell back on the mattress - Jin on top of him.
Jin pulled back from the kiss and looked at Kazuya’s flushed face. “You’re beautiful, Kazuya.”
“I know, I know. Now, shut up and kiss me more.”
Jin laughed. “Impatient, aren’t we? I thought you’re tired.”
Kazuya pulled Jin by the tie towards him. He then licked the man’s neck. His hands trailed lower and cupped Jin’s erection through the man’s pants.
“Uhn…Ka-Kazu…”
“If you want this,” Kazuya rubbed his hand on the bulge on Jin’s pants, “taken cared of then you better stop teasing me and start pleasuring me.”
“Yes.” Jin breathed. He stepped back to remove his clothes until he was stark naked. He watched as Kazuya did the same but he stopped him when Kazuya was about to remove his briefs. “I want to take them off for you.”
Kazuya shrugged. “If you say so.”
That night, Jin was very gentle with him and his every touch and every look was filled with love. At that moment, Kazuya felt special. He felt the same way he had on their first night together. It’s as if Jin could see, hear or feel no one else but him and it was something that he had missed these past few stressful months. He relished in it and gave his body to Jin several times until almost morning. So it was no wonder that he slept like a log after all that.
Kazuya woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He sat up and reached for his phone. “Hello?”
“Sir, I’m sorry to disturb you but I just want to remind you about the scheduled meeting with Mrs. Lorinelle. She’s already waiting for you sir.”
He glanced at the alarm clock at the bedside table and cursed. It was already 9:45. His meeting with Mrs. Lorinelle will start at 10 am. He’ll never make it on time!
“Sir?”
“Ask her if we could reschedule. Tell her I have an emergency. You decide what kind of emergency. Just text or call me about what you told her. I’m counting on you Nicole. Thank you.” He ended the call after Nicole’s affirmation.
He massaged his forehead. It wasn’t like him to be so irresponsible and it slightly irritated him that he was being like that now. He had set his phone and his alarm clock at 7am. He was just too tired to actually hear it go off.
He moved to get up, planning to take a shower but his actions stilled when his husband snuggled against him. Jin circled his arm around Kazuya’s waist and buried his face on the other’s chest.
Just like that, Kazuya’s bad mood disappeared.
He shook his head, smiling as he traced the outline of his husband’s jaw with one finger. “You’re going to get me fired but I love you so much, I don’t even care.”
“Love you too,” came Jin’s sleepy reply. He opened his eyes. “Good morning, pretty!”
“Good morning.” Looking at Jin’s eyes, Kazuya was reminded of why he waited for Jin last night to the point that he fell asleep on the couch. “Jin, we need to talk.”
Jin immediately noticed that Kazuya was serious. He sat up and leaned on the headboard. “Sure. What about?”
“The in vitro…it isn’t working, right?”
“H-how did you know?” Jin didn’t want to tell Kazuya about what the doctor told him yet. He didn’t know how to say it.
“I happened to meet Dr. Clarisse and she told me.”
“The in vitro failed.”
Kazuya stared at Dr. Clarisse. “What do you mean it failed?”
“At the first place, the response level of in vitro isn’t very high. Probably because we’re taking away the cells from their natural environment. Now we could try again but the result probably will be the same. If you ask me, it would just be a waste of time and money.”
“Wait! So you’re telling me what exactly? That Jin and Stephanie has to…” Kazuya felt like he had been hit.
“Yes. If you want Eiji to survive, Jin and Stephanie would have to have sex.” Clarisse gave him a stern look. “We all have to do our best for the child right?”
“Kazuya-”
“No.”
Jin looked at him, confused. “I haven’t finished yet.”
“I know what you’re going to say. No, Jin. I won’t let you have sex with her.”
“But Dr. Clarisse said it’s the only way…” Jin buried his face in his hands, the doctor’s words swirling in his mind.
“If we wait any longer, it might be too late to save Eiji.”
“Tell me, what would you feel if I told you I’m going to have sex with some random stranger? Or do you even care?” Kazuya wasn’t shouting but he might as well have because the emotions in every word he uttered was so strong.
Jin stood up, grabbing his bathrobe. “Of course I care! And this isn’t like that! I’m going to do this to save Eiji. Besides, Stephanie isn’t some random stranger.”
“Exactly! She’s not just some stranger! You cheated on me with her! And now you’re asking me if you can have sex with her?! When you told me you had a son, did you hear me complain? No! When you told me you were going through with the in vitro, did I stop you?! No! But Jin, I AM NOT A FUCKING ROBOT! I have feelings Jin and I am your husband! I am entitled to say no to this preposterous idea!” Kazuya exploded. He clutched the bed sheet tightly in anger.
“Eiji’s life is at stake here Kazuya! Eiji! That child who hugged you even though he barely knew you! That same child will die if I don’t this! Can you get over yourself to at least consider that?!” Jin too was yelling at this point. He couldn’t understand why Kazuya was being so difficult right now. He thought Kazuya cared for Eiji too. He needed Kazuya to understand.
“Maybe you really just want to have sex with Stephanie and Eiji is just a convenient excuse!” Kazuya spat. He was so tired, so tired of everyone talking at him like he’s some kind of evil person. Dr. Clarisse, Stephanie, and now even Jin were indirectly accusing him of being selfish.
Jin’s palm landed on Kazuya’s cheek with a resounding slap.
Kazuya touched his cheek and stared at the older man shocked. It didn’t hurt that much but he still couldn’t believe it. Jin slapped him. Jin slapped him.
He has…never raised a hand against me before…
Jin reached for Kazuya, immediately regretting his actions. He was just so shocked that Kazuya would actually accuse him of being that low. He didn’t mean to hurt him. “Kazu…”
But Kazuya recoiled from his touch. “Don’t touch me.”
“Kazuya, I’m sorry…”
Kazuya only shook his head and stood from the bed. He reached for a pair of jeans and a random shirt and got dressed. He took his phone, wallet and car keys from the bedside table and walked to the door. He felt numb. Maybe later, his tears will flow but at that moment, all he felt was a big abyss of nothingness.
“Wait, Kazuya. W-where are you going?”
“I need to go out,” he answered in a monotone. “Do you even know why I’m being like this?”
Jin just looked at his husband, his eyes begging him. Don’t go please. Let’s fix this.
“I didn’t think so,” Kazuya answered his own question. He walked out the door and left the house.
Jin watched him go with a heavy heart. Kazuya didn’t deserve that slap. He knew Kazuya had the right to refuse. It wasn’t an easy request, after all.
But Eiji…he needed to save Eiji.
Argh! Everything’s so damn complicated!
