Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chpater 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6   Chapter 7  Chapter 8

Rolling onto her side Chloe couldn’t believe she couldn’t get back to sleep. Last night’s activities had worn her out so much that she should be sleeping but for some reason it eluded her. Maybe it was because she knew she should be doing something to help restore order to the world, instead of leaving it to its chaos, or maybe she just felt guilty for taking pleasure in Oliver instead of letting him go back out into the world and help more people like her. Yawning she sat up slowly and grabbed the first article of clothing that her hand came too. Pulling on Oliver’s shirt she realised that it engulfed her like a dress so she didn’t bother getting anything else as she headed out of the room and down to the kitchen.
Grabbing a glass of water she opened the door to the balcony and peered out, hoping that it had calmed down somewhat. While the calm hadn’t come over the place completely there was more peace over the area she was in. Deciding to stay put she leaned against the balcony rail. Her muscles ached as she stood up and considering she had only had sex once before she wasn’t surprised by that fact. The thing that surprised her the most was the fact that it had happened. She knew she wasn’t the girl who jumped the guy for no reason, it just wasn’t her, even if the world was ending around them. It shouldn’t have mattered but it felt like it did. The connection she had felt to Oliver before was strong. It was like he saw her when no one else did, not even Clark or Lois, and it made her feel more special then she could ever remember feeling.
Did that mean she should jump his bones just because the world was ending, probably not, but it had happened and now she needed to decide what to do. She knew that she still wanted to be with Oliver but he was more experienced than she was and she wasn’t sure if she would possess the ability to keep him satisfied the way that the bimbos he had been with before had been able too. There was also the fact that if the world didn’t end by the time the week was over she would probably want to return to a non-sexual relationship for a while. The sex was great and Oliver was an amazing gentleman but she had wanted to know Oliver really well before taking that step and since she couldn’t now she could always put the stops up for their next encounter.
“If you keep thinking that hard your brain will go into melt down.” Oliver said.
Turning she smiled when she saw him leaning against the doorway. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough to know that something serious is on your mind,” Oliver replied with a smile before moving out onto the balcony to stand in front of her. Running a hand down her arm he continued, “What’s going on?”
Chloe shook her head, “What do you say we talk about this in the morning, when we have both had a good night’s sleep.”
“Ok,” Oliver replied with a sigh, “Though there are so many things I wish I could do to you while you’re wearing my shirt.”
Chloe laughed, “Sex on a stick.”
“Hey,” Oliver cried as he steered them back inside, “I quite like the fact that you’re in my shirt. It looks really good on you.”
“And let me guess it will look even better when it’s on the ground next to your bed.”
Oliver gasped, “Now that you mention it would. We should try that.”
“Right now?” Chloe asked raising an eyebrow.
“I like the way you think Sullivan,” Oliver replied with a cheeky grin as he reached for the hem of the shirt and tugged it over her head. “Much better,” he said as he picked her up, forcing her to wrap her legs around his waist. Kissing down her neck slowly stopping to suck and bite along the way. He lowered the pair back into the bed just as his lips reached the top of her breast. Smiling he moved his lips around her breast avoiding the nipple as she squirmed underneath him.
She gave a breathy moan, “Please Ollie,” before he finally took her right nipple into his mouth, sucking gently as his hand creped down her stomach resting stretched out on her hips.
Trying to find some control in herself she sighed at Oliver’s ministrations before she just let go and arched her back. There would be time for control later, now she wanted to feel. Threading a hand through his hair she held him as close as she could, not wanting him to stop what he was doing. Groaning in complaint as Oliver realised her she giggled as he planted gentle kisses on her ticklish ribs.
“Oliver,” she whispered, not able to make her voice any louder, “Please, I need...”
Kissing her quickly on the lips he said, “What do you need, Chlo? Tell me.”
“You, I need you. Now.” Chloe sighed, tugging at the boxers he’d pulled on. Nodding Oliver slipped out of his boxes and pulled a condom from the drawer next to the bed.
***********
Groaning Chloe rolled over trying to remember where she had put her phone so she could switch it off and go return to bed and her snuggling with Oliver. Moving towards her skirt she fished out the phone and answered.
“Whoever this is it better be important?” she snapped.
“Chloe its Lionel.”
Chloe walked out into the hallway and closed the door before answering, “Mr Luthor, what can I do for you?”
“I’m worried Chloe. Clark hasn’t been returning my calls. I’m worried something may have happened when he went after the vessel. I was hoping you may have heard something at the Planet.”
Chloe ran a hand through her hair before heading back into the bedroom and gathering her cloths. “I’m not there right now but I can be there in half an hour and I’ll check it out.”
“Where are you now?” Lionel asked.
“I’m at Oliver’s.” She said as she walked down the stairs, yanking on the clothes as quickly as she could and reaching for the first piece of paper she could find.
“Ok. Can you get back to the Planet safely from there?”
Searching for a pen Chloe replied, “Yeah I should be ok.”
“Do you still have the gun?”
Chloe looked at her bag before nodding, “Yes but I don’t plan to use it unless there’s no other choice.”
“Ok, let me know when you know something then.”
“Will do,” Chloe replied before hanging up the phone. Finally finding a pen she wrote a note quickly before heading towards the elevator and leaving. She’d forgotten about the gun when she was attacked earlier, not she was just praying she didn’t have to use it.
*********
Waking up a little later on Oliver rolled over in the bed, reaching for Chloe only to have his hand met by an empty bed. Sitting up confused Oliver looked around the room to see if he could find Chloe. When he couldn’t he grabbed his boxers from the ground. Noticing the lack of her clothes in the room he headed out to the kitchen, figuring that she may have just woken up again and gone in search of coffee. Entering the kitchen his brow creased in confusion as he realised that she wasn’t there but a piece of paper was. Picking it up he read what it said before placing it back where he had found it.
Heading back upstairs he striped and jumped in the shower. Lathering up he couldn’t help but feel confused as to why she hadn’t woken him when she had left. Last night when she had moved to the streets by herself she was almost raped and it would have happened if he hadn’t have saved her, so why would she go out there alone aware that it could happen again? Shaking his head he turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist before moving back down stairs.
Loading his laptop again he was happy to see that it seemed to be working again. Logging into his satellites he was surprised that they were still running too. He had assumed that they had been taken out with the rest of the electronic equipment but by the looks of it they had stayed online throughout the whole affair. Bringing up the saved data he concentrated on the Luthor mansion in Smallville, figuring that it would help. Anything bad that had happened could usually be traced back to the Luthor’s. It was one of the first things that he had discovered when he had become the Green Arrow. It wasn’t a great thing to know but it was better than going in blind.
Going back twelve hours he watched as Lana entered and left, as did Clark and Lionel, when it came to Lex leaving though he was stopped by a man. Freezing the image he zoomed in and was surprised to see the face of Milton Fine.
“What are you doing there?” Oliver whispered to no one in particular. Hitting play again he watched as the two interacted before Fine was gone in the blink of an eye and Lex followed a moment after. Rewinding he played it again in slow motion and realised that the pair where moving so fast that they became invisible to the human eye. He was surprised because he as far as he was aware Bart was the only person who could run that fast.
Fast forwarding a bit he saw that Lex returned two hours later dragging Lana with him. Wishing he could see inside the building he began to formulate two plans. One to find out what happened inside the mansion and the other to find out what happened to Lex.
*********
Moving around the basement Chloe ducked as a light fell from the ceiling. She hated leaving Oliver like she had but she needed to do this. It was for the greater good and she always put herself behind the greater good. Though she felt a little guilty about the whole thing it was a little bit of a relief that she didn’t have to deal with the whole morning after thing.
Hearing a noise behind her she drew the gun and headed for the doorway, feeling a little scared about having a gun. She knew the statistics when it came to a gun and she didn’t want to become one of them by accidentally shooting someone. Stopping at the door she raised the gun higher and stopped to take aim. Noticing as a man ducked as a light came down from the ceiling and when he did she got a look at his face.
Lowering the gun she said in shock, “Jimmy Olsen!”
He smiled, “Chloe.”
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“Well I was down in the basement, scanning archive photos into the database when everything went screwy. First official day at the Daily Planet and the world decides to end.
Chloe shook her head in awe, “I can’t believe you actually work here.”
Before he could respond though the ground shook underneath them as what felt like an earthquake rocked the Daily Planet. Moving out of the way as lights exploded and fell, she grabbed onto the edge of the desk and ducked under it. Looking at Jimmy she saw that the light behind him was about to fall.
“Jimmy! Look out!” she cried from her position before reaching out and pushing him to safety.
Looking shocked from his position on the ground, “Since when are there earthquakes in Metropolis?”
*************
Picking up the pieces of her desk Chloe sighed and tossed a piece of the ceiling into the trash as she saw Clark come down the stairs. Smiling in relief she ran over to where he was standing and pulled him into a hug.
“Clark! Oh my God, I thought you were dead.”
“Hi,” he said as he squeezed her tight, “So did I for a while there.”
Pulling back she looked him in the eye, “What happened? Where did you go?”
“A place I never want to go again. I’ll explain in full later. Are you okay?”
Chloe nodded, “Yeah. Oliver was great. I stayed with him when I wasn’t here and now your back everything is great.”
“That’s great. Nothing happened between you and Oliver that you did want to happen? Did it?”
Chloe laughed, “No Clark, anything that happened, happened because I wanted it too.”
Before Clark could say anything else Jimmy walked over to where they were and said, “Hey bright eyes.”
Chloe blushed, “Hey.”
“Is this a bad time?” Jimmy asked realising that Clark was standing there.
“No, I’m just talking to a friend.” Chloe said, a small smile gracing her lips.
Jimmy looked Clark up and down before giving a little chuckle, “Whoa. They grow ‘em big in Kansas, don’t they?”
“I’m sorry, Jimmy Olsen this is my best friend Clark Kent.” Chloe said motioning between the pair.
“Actually, it’s, uh... James Olsen.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow, “Really? Since when?”
“Since now-ish,” Jimmy replied with a small gesture causing Chloe to laugh, “You want to grab some dinner at the vending machine?”
Chloe sighed and looked at her watch. Usually if Oliver was going to bring her dinner he would have done it by now. Nodding she said, “Sure... James. Clark, do you want to join us?”
“No I’m ok. You guys go ahead.” Clark replied. Chloe smiled and hugged Clark once more before turning and heading for the vending machines.
“Catch you later CK” Jimmy called over his shoulder as he followed Chloe.
Shaking his head Clark headed for the stairs. He wasn’t sure what his best friend was getting herself into. It was obvious that Jimmy was flirting with her and she was doing nothing to stop it. He hoped she realised what was going on soon before Oliver got clued in and she hurt more people than necessary.
Looking up as he reached the stairs he saw Oliver, standing midway on the stair case looking at Chloe and Jimmy. A bunch of white tulips were in his left hand, hanging towards the ground. Moving towards him he stopped a few steps below him.
“Oliver it’s not what it looks like.”
“Really, cause it looks like some dorky idiot is flirting with Chloe and she’s flirting back.”
Clark sighed, “She’s not flirting back.”
“Yes she is. It doesn’t matter,” Oliver said with a shake of his head, “If she wanted to be with him she should have just said so.” Pushing the flowers into Clark’s chest Oliver turned to head back up the stairs, “I guess it didn’t matter as much as I thought it did.”
Clark looked back over to where his best friend was laughing at a joke that Jimmy said. At the moment she may think she doesn’t know who she wants but he knew her better than that. Oliver was the sweet guy who had won her over and when the world was ending he was the person she had wanted to see. It was just a shame that she couldn’t see that at the moment.
***********
Leaning on his kitchen bench Oliver nodded even though his shareholder couldn’t see him do it. To his left his bags were packed with the things that he knew he needed to take with him. Hearing the elevator he stood from where he was and went to look at the monitor. When he saw it was Chloe he buzzed her in but continued with his conversation even as she entered.
“Yes. I know. That’s why I’m coming.... I understand there are concerns.... No this isn’t like the time I was stranded on a desert island.... I promise it’s not.” Looking at his watch Oliver sighed and said, “Look I need to be on the plane in half an hour and I’ll be in Star City in three so can we talk about this in person then, ok?.... Great. I’ll see you there.”
Hanging up the phone he turned to Chloe, “Is this important because I have a plane catch.”
“Yeah I heard. Where are you going?”
“I’m going to Star City. The investors and my board want to see me. Apparently there was also some damage to company and I need to be there to sort it out.”
Chloe nodded, “Ok. When will you be back?”
“I don’t know. A couple of weeks, maybe more,” he shrugged, “It depends on how bad it is.”
“So will I hear from you?” Chloe asked, trying to take it all in. She couldn’t believe he was leaving like this. It was so out of the blue that if she didn’t trust him she would have thought he was making some of it up.
“I’ll call when I land,” Oliver replied with a smile before looking at his watch, “I’ve got to go but feel free to make yourself at home if you don’t want to leave.” He said before kissing her gently on the lips and picking up his bag.
“Ok, I’ll see you soon.”
“As soon as possible,” he said, entering the elevator and pulling the door shut, letting it block out the vision of her confusion while he tried to keep his face as stoic as possible but only succeeding until he was out of sight.
