Updated list of resources
My old resources list includes credit for a lot of work I downloaded but ultimately never used. Here's an updated, much shorter list of those makers whose work I use.

Toybirds on DeviantArttragic_icons (texture site is down but all textures are
here on DeviantArt)
Tre (as she's best-known in the LJ graphics community) has archived her large textures
here at Deviant Art. I can see why she didn't archive the icon textures -- they're taken from her larger works -- but I do love the sets I downloaded back when her site was still up.
unmasked_icons : I use her masking brushes on virtually everything I create.

Fonts:
misprinted type 3.0_art, design, and type by Eduardo Recife -- lots of gorgeous free fonts as well as some for sale, too. Wish I did larger work because the fonts for sale are works of art that need to be large to be appreciated (and legible). Definitely worth a look if you work in larger formats because they're gorgeous and very reasonably priced.
dafont.comFonts for Peas: At the time I downloaded, almost 150 handwritten fonts. Looks though them, download just those you want, or download them all as a convenient *.zip file.
Abstract Fonts: Good selection and easy navigation.
Elm Software: A selection of handwritten fonts suggested for use on invitations.
exljbris: Several free, very legible, carefully designed fonts, including Anivers, Fontin, and Delicious.
Smashing Magazine's Font Article Index: Lots and lots of links to beautiful, free fonts.
Open Source, Professional Fonts -- Beautifully designed, no-charge fonts
Tack-O-Rama: An amazing collection of free retro fonts sorted by era. Additionally, site has retro clip art, stock photography, custom shapes, and more.
Girls Who Wear Glasses: Somewhat annoying interface if you're browsing for new fonts but this site has a lot of free fonts that I haven't seen elsewhere.
Scrap Village: Easy to navigate, easy to browse, easy one-click download of each font.
