I was letting my mind wander as I walked about doing errands today and noticed in myself a fascinating with unhealthy sibling relationships. NO, not incest, thankyouverymuch, though it figures to one degree or another in the two examples that sprang to my mind. But the complexities inherent in a sibling relationship certainly make it more

Nothing wrong with your interest in dysfunctional relationships. As long as it's kept in an intellectual level, it's all good.

And good GADS yes it's intellectual. I don't want to be in either of those relationships- they're disturbing and not fun for ANYONE involved and very, very unhealthy. Also, ew. But the dynamics are really fun to think about- I have this weird thing about interactions with a lot of conflict. In that respect, see my love of Alutegra and SxS. That push and pull is FAR more entertaining, if painful at times, than happy fluff.

As for Anthy and Akio - it's been too long since I last saw this show, and whenever I do see SKU I am *sure* I'm missing a LOT. I think my mind shuts down in self-preservation or something. However, what you wrote has helped a little in further understanding them - the bit you wrote about minds that don't end. They're immortals, of a sort? (Tries to remember eps 31-33, or was it 34-46?) I suppose so.
An interesting note about immortals, that I am stealing wholesale from a certain Mr. Pratchett and misquoting horrendously:
"Those that don't die don't live. And those that don't live don't learn."
Argh, I am *sure* there was more to it, but what, I can't remember.
In any case, it's interesting to apply that to Akio and Anthy. Does Akio ever learn? Does Anthy? Though with Anthy leaving Ohtori in ep 39, you possibly could say that she does.
