I think that if a spirit is lingering, or you are getting a sense that she is there, she is there to comfort you. By lingering a bit longer, perhaps she is giving you a chance to adjust and give you a sense she is ok.
Death is such a weird thing, with so many emotions attached. Keep focusing on the happy memories.
As far as your dad going to the Philippines and paying the bills. It might be a good thing for you to do. It will help your mom out alot and will help you learn how to do it. My advice, be REALLY REALLY organized (make yourself a bill area and set up a calendar) and PAY EVERYTHING ON TIME! Late fees are horrible and screw up your credit. Good luck!
