We set some sort of silly record in DC today for number of times it has snowed consecutively on this date. I like stats as much as the next girl, but that one just seems silly. I think the weather guys are bored if they're looking up stuff like that

The picture is lovely. I adore snowy, grey days and seeing snow on trees.
Oh, a challenging lesson, eh? She must be very happy w/ your progress to spring that on you!
I believe there was an article in the past couple of weeks where people said they didn't think AIDS/HIV was fatal anymore. *shakes head* I guess they see people living longer on the meds and think it's cured or something.

If I can get the hubs to stop at the asian grocery store for abura age, it's Kitsune Udon for me tonight.
People are living longer and longer on the drugs and that's wonderful, but the medicines are so expensive that not everyone can get them and the side effects are brutal. Then there are all the children. We're seeing a lot of kids born with HIV here in DC. The church is sponsoring seven children for gifts for Christmas. It's heartbreaking to think of what they have to battle from the time they are born.
I know there are plenty of problems in the world, but it disturbs me that the media seemed to completely blow off World Aids Day this year. We've grown too complacent and it shows in the comeback the disease is making here.

Kinda like the weather guy on the ABC station. He's cute and sweet in that geeky sort of way and has a very nice voice.

That was one thing I appreciated over in eastern Washington - it snowed, and everybody knew how to drive. None of the piles of cars abandoned half way up every minor incline because the drivers got scared that we get near Seattle....

We only got about 2-3" of the stuff, but it sure does make a mess of things for local drivers. Being able to work at home, I just think it's pretty.
In some small defense of our drivers, however, I should point out that though the snow started 30 hours or more ago, our neighborhood has yet to see anything that looks vaguely like a plow or salt truck. VA is pathetic about snow removal and that's at least as big a problem as drivers unused to the white stuff. Let it freeze overnight once or twice and you have a lovely skating rink instead of a road.

Poor hubs is turning around and coming home to work today. All that fuss trying to get out of the neighborhood and still couldn't make it to the office.
