After he heard Sally's speech at the awards banquet, after he met the girl and her mother at the reception, he knew he would have to talk to Steve. But nothing had changed, really; the cirumstances that made their meeting in person a foolish risk were the same as ever. Tony

"All right --" Tony clenched his hands together over his knee, and wished this didn't feel quite so much like a mission briefing. But then, he was comfortable with those, and Steve was a good listener when he wanted to be

"First of all, forget the unconfirmed. I had a little telepathic conversation with her, at the reception. I have a feeling she thought I was doing it -- people will seriously believe anything about Extremis -- and she seemed surprised. So she probably hasn't been practicing her abilities. And honestly, she wouldn't have any reason to suspect they're there. Apparently her mother never told her about the attack when she was a child. And she's not a mutant, so she presumably didn't have any of the recognizable 'breaking out' symptoms. Unless she had contacted somebody who knew how to tap into her telepathy, there's no reason she should suspect. Same with her healing factor -- it was always a bit on the subtle side, and if she hasn't actually had a limb hacked off in the past six months, she probably just thinks she doesn't bruise very easily

"Of course not," Steve said, taking the revelation of Sally's powers in stride. "But you keep saying 'we.' You can keep an eye on her, sure - and I'm happy that you want to - but how the heck can I help her when I'm in hiding?"

He paused, and then added, placing a hand on Tony's knee, "That wasn't sarcasm. I really do want to know how I can help."

"I was just thinking. A girl in that position, she's going to need some guidance -- some help in discovering and understanding her powers. And considering her current -- rather strongly held viewpoints. She doesn't seem very much inclined to take them from the Initiative -- much less from me. But, well. . .if it was coming from Captain America."
