"I'm not doing it!"
"Yes you are!" Hermione yelled. "We're going out tonight, whether you like it or not." They stood, glaring at each other, their figures both tense and posed at a combat position.
Had you come upon them, and the boy been younger, and his voice not so deep, you would have thought it was a mother and teenager quarreling.
However it wasn't.
"Why did we get married?"
"You tell me!" she shot back. "You're the one who slipped this ring on my finger!"
"You accepted!"
"I was drunk," she said hotly. They both knew this wasn't true. Both also knew that though they fought like cats and dogs, if things got heated enough, it would end up with them in bed---together.
Hermione had already decided, however, that they were going out.
"Mama?" she turned, her elegant, silk gown turning smoothly with her.
She bent down to pick the little boy up, careless of her expensive robes.
"We're going out tonight, darling," she said.
He stuck his thumb in his mouth, sucking on it viciously.
"Lucifer," Draco said. "Take your finger out of your mouth." He'd told him countless times, yet the boy still continued to do so.
Hermione glared at him. "I've got proof you did the same at his age," she said.
Lucifer whimpered.
"We're going trick-or-treating tonight."
And that was all Hermione had to say to make Draco start yelling again about how there was no way that that was happening.

"Why do we have to do this?" Draco whined. After a little persuading, Hermione had managed to drag him out of the house---in a getup that he would be destroying the moment he stepped through Malfoy Manor's doors.
Yes, it was cute to see Lucifer in a brown bear's costume, ears included. His transparent blonde hair just barely peeked out from the hood.
However. It was most definitely not cute for him to be in a matching outfit.
Hermione was the only one suitably dressed. She had on a sparkling gown, a tiara resting upon her curly head, glass slippers, and silver glinting bracelet and necklace.
"Yes," she answered. "It's our son's first night out, now hush and make it enjoyable."
Enjoyable was sitting at home in front of the fireplace with said wife and child on the floor playing with knick knacks, and himself sipping a glass of wine.
This was not enjoyable. If Potter even saw him, he'd never live it down.
"Oh don't fuss," Hermione said as if she were talking to a child. "I promise that you'll enjoy yourself once we get home."
He managed to make it through the night. More than once, though, he'd seen people pointing and laughing at him. They were obviously low-born, for they didn't know it was impolite to do so.
Halloween night was very special indeed. At least it was to Hermione and Draco. For it was on that night, the night Draco had sworn he'd hate for all eternity, for what his wife had done to him, that they conceived their second child.
After that, though, Draco decided he couldn't hate it... so much.
Fin.
A'N: Alright, I'm not happy with this. At all. In fact, I hate it. I had a great idea all planned out, but it didn't turn out. I'm posting it anyway because it's the only work I've done in forever... so yeah. It was supposed to end different. Seriously. To me, it just doesn't flow.
