Sir Ambrose! Blue has told me of your predicament in cleaning the palace by yourself, if you still need a pair of able hands to aid you in the task, I volunteer my own! Um... I have learned to sweep off the floor during my time of exile from Neo Verona and that makes me feel accomplished as someone born in the unnecessary luxury of the noble class. ( Read more... )

He is clever like a person. We grew up together.

I always rather wondered about that, too, honestly. And moreso now that I've been focusing on Helena's lines for the play. Her ending with Demetrius...it doesn't seem quite right, does it?

I must confess that I am bothered by Helena's rewarded love. I would like to see her and Demetrius as a happy couple yet I wonder how real their relationship is.

It's...not, really. If it weren't for the magic, Demetrius would still love Hermia, and her own would still be unrequited. There's nothing real about that.

Did he love Hermia or did he only want to wed her to follow his father's wishes?

What play's that?

Ohh... Um... It's Midsummer's Night Dream, Miss Misao! A play by William Shakespeare!

Is it nice?

Very nice! The play is comedy about love, magic and accidental misunderstandings.

For ere Demetrius looked on Hermia's eyne,
He hailed down oaths that he was only mine
And when that hail some heat from Hermia felt,
So he dissolved, and showers of oaths did melt.

You could reasonably argue, I think, that Demetrius' affections properly belong to Helena, if he loved her first, before becoming infatuated with Hermia.

Ehh?? That is a valid interpretation...

I was worried about Helena's happiness, Sir Neil! Her love is as honest as Hermia's and as Lysander's!

I can see why you'd find it troubling... it doesn't seem quite right. I mean, we're meant to laugh at Bottom and Titania, but we take Helena and Demetrius seriously, even though both are enchanted.

But it's meant to be a comedy, and not a tragedy... so I think that's the way we should take it. That both are honest couples.

It is too bad they did not last longer, but one day in itself was wonderful.

I am relieved the iris stopped blooming after that day. With the creature skulking around, the reputation of its scent would be stained with... the blood shed, Juliet.

We could help them bloom ourselves, in Verona, and then we can offer one for each citizen at the Square.

It was a shame for them to be marred in such a way. And the people wanting to eat them..
