"Public transport in Britain suggests there isn't a God anyway"

My day kind of sucked. BUT. I finally saw an atheist bus. In fact, I saw three in quick succession. \o/

And now. Awesome things swiped from my f'list. A list:

Gabe Saporta's favourite music of 2008, which includes:
MGMT, 'Electric Feel:' I really only liked this song when I thought the lyrics were, 'Ooh girl, club you like a baby seal.' Then ( Read more... )

Those bus ads irritate me. They're not remotely persuasive (because apparently all you need to do is just call a religious person an idiot & they'll instantly see your point, of course); all they seem to be doing in my opinion is giving pre-existing atheists the chance to feel smug. Which they already do. Every second of the damn day. *lives with two full-on atheists, is sick of it already*

Yeah, because religious people -- who thank God when something good happens to them, as if he's sitting on their shoulder -- are never smug. Pfft.

Well, that doesn't exactly give people who don't believe in anything an excuse to be... I mean, I thought you were supposed to be better than that. If all you've done is swapped the belief that a God exists and is looking after you for a belief that those things aren't true, then you might as well have just stayed in bed for all the good you've done to anybody. Considering your beliefs to make you a better person than people with different ones is still wrong, no matter what those beliefs happen to be. Even the ones who believe that your sexual preference is responsible for natural disasters are human beings too, no matter how angry they make all the others. My housemate still holds strong to the notion that you can 'catch AIDS' by sharing someone's razor, but she's still fairly OK most of the time. I guess I'm just too nice for my own good, but whatever. You gotta lead by example, etc.
