1. I just finished reading Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey, which deconstructs Hollywood movies into archetypes and a "mythic" structure. Apart from being wanky and overwritten, it was a really good read. Clearly not something to be taken as gospel (who wants to write stories that are so cookie-cutter?), but I would definitely recommend ( Read more... )

The one I thought was you started talking about Bert McCracken being brilliant halfway through and OK, that's not you.

So my conclusion is that you're clearly the one who wants more McFly paired with members of My Chemical Romance. I AGREE, NICOLA, DOUGIE/FRANK DOES MAKE AN AWFUL LOT OF SENSE WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT. ;)

Had I posted one, it would have said, "RUSSELL BRAND HAD A THREESOME AND A NUMBER OF OTHER SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS WITH MATT MORGAN. FACT. What are you wasting your time with Ryan Ross for?! PS. Mikey Way is the messiah."

I wonder if anybody would have guessed it was me. >_>

The trouble with these memes is that I do not have enough shame to keep my UFOs to myself. So, had the idea of MCR/McFly occurred to me, I would have posted about it publicly with obnoxious amounts of squee. :D

So no, that wasn't me. Only because what I want is McFly/The Academy Is/Cobra Starship fic. >_>

P.S. My secret love for Bert McCracken. Let me show you it~~~~ (LOLOLOL... seriously: NO.)

If you're interested in other good, thinky books on plotting (well, on writing fiction in general), I highly recommend Dwight Swain's "Techniques of the Selling Writer", which is the best nitty-gritty, functional, for use in actual writing rather than analysis breakdown of plotting craft book I've ever read (and I've read a buttload). It's a bit dense and dated in a few places, but it's got some great ideas and ways of looking at plotting.

Thank you. You should know that you are one of my favorite people on the planet. :D (See, you can tell I like you extra much because I use the ":D" emoticon.)

P.S. Blair cannot kill Nate. He makes up one third of my most favorite OT3. No good will come of it!

I did read The Little Friend. I hated it. HATE. Actually--omg, I'm such a nerd. I just had a quick poke through my files and I have the review of it I wrote for my personal site about 5 years ago. How about a copy&paste? :D ( ... )
