1. I just finished reading Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey, which deconstructs Hollywood movies into archetypes and a "mythic" structure. Apart from being wanky and overwritten, it was a really good read. Clearly not something to be taken as gospel (who wants to write stories that are so cookie-cutter?), but I would definitely recommend it if you're as terrible at plotting as I am.
2a. I've only had a quick poke through yuletide, but my first thought is: no one wrote Zodiac fic. Wooooe. This was my secret hope. :( I rewatched the movie yesterday and seeeeriously, what the world needs now is love sweet love Robert Graysmith/Paul Avery fic.
2b. The Secret History fic. *dances* So much love! Although, I am forced to the conclusion that if I ever want Cloke Rayburn fic, I am going to have to write it myself. I love Cloke Rayburn, okay? He is my favourite!
Anyway, mulling over Cloke fic brought me to possibly the greatest crossover ever... The Secret History/Gossip Girl. *pause for effect* AWESOME, RIGHT? Apart from the timelines, it totally works! Overprivileged private school kids in New England! It's only a matter of time before Blair kills Nate someone!
2c. I've been thinking about this Friends fic (no, it's not the Joey/Chandler one everyone is linking) a lot since I read it. I was actually pretty happy with the sappy Ross/Rachel ending, but this fic gives a much more realistic (and much sadder) view of later-life Rachel. Also, check out proofpudding's Rachel/Chandler vid, because it is fantastic. Secret 'ship!
3. I read the whole of the Bandom unpopular opinions meme and now I feel like I need to stab myself in the face. :| My own anon comment is probably laughably easy to spot, due to the fact that it's x5 longer than most other comments and uses significantly more ten-dollar words. ;)
The anti-TomRad comments in the above meme made me >:/, especially since his new band is legitimately awesome. I have been listening to this song practically non-stop. It's just good music, okay?
