Oldboy is so... raw, not unlike the octopus. It's one of those movies that does its job so well that it's a bit hard to watch.

I've already discussed American Splendor with you, but it's definitely a personal favorite of mine.

When I saw that Quentin Tarantino demand that Oldboy be given the Palme d'Or, it made so many kinds of sense. I could imagine him getting pretty heated about it, too.

All of these things are awesome. (Especially the lady/mom points).

I ADORED Oldboy. I'm not sure I've seen a movie since that I so immediately clicked with. When I later read reviews of it, and saw negative reviews, I simply couldn't wrap my brain around it. Like, what could possibly motivate someone to dislike that movie? Nards to that.

I know of a Korean restaurant in LA that serves live octopus. I MAY do that in the future.

Oh also I saw The Stills and Sam Roberts Band and Malajube. With the lady. And my best friend did the lighting for it.

How awesome? How friggin' awesome?

Sam Roberts is great live. I'm a little surprised they were on that side of the border so close to July 1st, though. They're usually playing something big here, on Canada Day.

The show was Canaday Day-themed, actually. Then again, if I'm reading their website correctly, they spent a few days stateside-- their next Canada show isn't until the fifteenth.

Well-- that makes me feel a little bit better actually. At least it was celebrated, haha. It's not that I was worried they forgot about us, or anything, it's just that they're usually so religious about it.

Oh, yeah, it really was wonderful. If I could change one thing I might want there to have been some standing room instead of the first few rows of chairs, but in the end I was happy on the lawn anyway.
