I really enjoyed this a lot.

You did a great job of mixing fairytale with modern. The characterizations were awesome as well. I love love love that the anxiety about being gay became an actual major plot point, this fandom does a lot of handwaving on that particular subject, and while it's understandable, it's also nice to see the occasional big gay freakout.

This was a delightful read!

This is incredible -- you should be so, so proud of it. Have you read much Angela Carter? If not, you might wanna check out The Bloody Chamber and other stories. This reminded me of that book a lot, which is meant as a huge compliment from me, seriously.

I have not! I have heard amazing things about her, but sadly been unable to find any of her work at libraries nearby. This was more inspired by A) Tanith Lee's fairy tale-reimagining anthology she published a number of years ago, and B) the traditional Asian fairy tales and ghost stories. (Except for the part where this one ends happily, and no one is a ghost trapped in a well or whatever.)

I'm so, so glad you liked this. Coming from you, it means a lot.

I. I kind of wish I could make a useful comment that is not all flailing, but I think that'd be impossible right now. I just love this tale -- the language, the story, the boys. Especially the language, I read bits out loud to myself and the rhythm in it just made me swoon and behave in a generally ridiculous matter. Also, PETE! God love him, the precious dork.

Furthermore, if you wrote a story about Mikey the Vampire Prince and his brother, I would have to sell you my soul. Because, you know, class examination sounds awesome, but also vampires. Mmmm.
