You know what I would have done if I were JJ Abrams and company? I would have knocked up Shannon by Boone.

Why?

A.) It's only been forty-eight days. She would have realized it soon, or earlier than now and just sat on the info, and now that she had hooked up with Sayid, she'd have to tell him.
B.) It gives her a new plotline.
C.) She's going to have to tell someone who the father is, thereby getting the Boone/stepbrother/quasi-incest out in the open.
D.) It makes you wonder if only being a month pregnant would bring out the Others to kidnap her.
E.) It gives her a reason to establish a closer relationship with Claire.
F.) This isn't a reason, but if I'd been writing for the show, I would have killed Michael and when Walt came back, pregnant Shannon could have transferred her new vaguely maternal instincts over to him.

But then again, I'm not writing for the show. Alas. *grumbles*

I agree with everything you said -- especially your idea of writing in Shannon being pregnant (omg, that would have rocked!). But this lost me:

* The French guy hitting on Shannon’s roommate and offering her the au pair job - nice continuity.

What was this about?

If it makes you feel any better, apparently Ian will be making other appearances on Lost yet this year. Check out this interview from the Boston Herald:

Also, in case you were unaware of it, Ian does have a semi-official website at:

Word. To all of it. I know Lindelof has a raging lust for Evie, but Shannon? Kicks Kate's ass. "Don't you dare help me up," is a million and a half times better than eight thousand variations of "I'm coming with you!"

Damnit. I would have liked to see Shannon as a warrior.

And double word on Locke and Charlie. I was really scared during the early parts of this season that we were somehow meant to see Charlie and Claire as this happy little family, rather than being controlling and disturbing. Charlie's face when he saw Locke with Aaron and Claire...dude, you're not married to her and they were sitting and having a conversation.
