sorry just catching up with this as with LJ generally and just wanting to say I found all this interesting and confess to reading all the spoilery bits because in all honesty I think I won't get to watch the series but was wanting to know what you made of it.
I have more recently learned about the renewal/ continuance of series in the US and what a tough call that can be.
it doesn't sound very surprising as you thought yourself but it is a shame for Ioan> Maybe there might be someone pick it up still as recently happened here in UK with a series that had its third year cancelled but was taken up on line following a fan outcry.

It's possible Forever will get a last minute reprieve, but at this point, it's been a month since the cancellation, and there have been no announcements that any of the studios I mentioned are seriously discussing picking it up. I'll hope for the best, of course, but I have my doubts.
If you do ever get a chance to watch the show, I probably would recommend it right up till the finale. I'm not sure where the best stopping place would be, considering that a lot of the last episodes all sort of interconnect, but as I said, it's a fun, gentle show, and Ioan often looks fantastic. But if you can't get round to it, that's fine. There's always Hornblower, after all.
