He grumbled at the Headmistress' announcement. Well, he was Deputy Headmaster, so he supposed it was his duty to go to the Great Hall. He'd been enjoying his morning off, not having to deal with the first years that William was now teaching.

Making his way to the Great Hall, his robes billowed in their usual fashion as he took his seat at the head table next to McGonagall. What in Merlin's name was Umbridge doing here and why the hell did Minerva call everyone for her announcement.

He tried to get Minerva's attention, but the Headmistress was not talking to anyone, only keeping her lips pursed as always.

He had just finished cleaning up after teaching the first years potions class. Hearing McGonagall's announcement, he grumbled. He didn't want to go to the great hall. He wanted to go sit with Sven during his lunch. Something in McGonagall's announcement made him know that such an "excuse" would not be acceptable. Straightening out his robes, he headed for the Great Hall, running a hand through his somewhat messy hair as he entered the Great Hall, heading towards the head table and his spot near the Weasley boys and Oliver.

Sirius met with his Aurors just outside the Great Hall.

"Tonks has the wands secured in our tactics room. Johnson, go give her backup," he said sending one young Auror running down the hall.

"The rest of you I want on attention. Be ready for anything. I don't know what kind of stunt she's pulling. Moody, take four with you to watch the carriages and the gates. The rest of you are in the Great Hall with me. Station yourselves throughout the hall and among the tables. I'll be up near the head table. Feel free to take defensive action if you think something is happening. Defensive action. Our first priority is to keep Hogwarts students and staff safe," he said, his hand resting on his wand.

"Right then. Follow me," he said as he turned to march into the Great Hall. He imagined they must make quite a show. Carrying the book under his arm, he took up a post near the head table, watching at the Aurors dispersed themselves throughout the Great Hall."

Jade had been posting up yet more of her tryout flyers in hallways when she had heard the announcement. She rolled her eyes and shoved the remaining ones back into her bag. She had never run into Umbridge personally except for her DADA class in 5th year but she had heard horror stories of what the old toad was capable of.

She strolled into the Great Hall and sat at the relatively empty Ravenclaw table, waiting for someone she knew to come in and join her.

As she realised everyone was gathering by class, Padma left her sister at the Gryffindor table and joined her own House, the table starting to fill up. She picked a seat next to Jade, and as far away from Alex as she could.

"What do you think this is about?" Jade asked as she looked around at the sea of annoyed faces in the Great Hall. "Anything having to do with her can't be good."

She sighed softly. "I don't know, but you're right it can't be good."

A rather unimpressed looking Alex shambled into the Great Hall. He fought his way through the throng of folks standing around and took a seat at the Ravenclaw Table. He idly looked around for Kat while wondering what all the fuss was about.
