This is a really good back story to the Inuyasha universe. I've always liked your use of imagery, so vivid and delicate. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! I've wanted to write about Inu Taisho, but I was kind of paranoid about trying.

I kind of wish I had edited more. ^^;

Nice work. I'm a sucker for their stories anyway. Great job!

Thank you! I am too. The previous generation always intrigues me in stories like this, where the decisions of the past have such an impact on the present.

More than the thought...simply lovely. Differing perspective.

Lovely. I don't like infidelity, but sometimes, there are circumstances that make one sympathetic to the pain and need that grows love where it wouldn't have existed otherwise.

Izayoi's fear is understandable, but she is also a bit weak to my mind. *sigh* I wish RT had made her stronger. I know there isn't much said about her, but from what I have seen, she was someone who allowed life to happen to her rather than being an active participant. This shows that in a small way.

Izayoi gave me that impression too - that she was weak and easily swayed. And I'm not sure how I feel about that, because she's kind of a product of her time. You see her type of weakness all the time in literature of the era - both men and women, of the court/nobility, at least, spent their time lamenting whatever karma brought their suffering than actually doing something about it. I think this was slow to change, even after the end of the Heian period.

It's also quite common for women to be forcefully engaged in a relationship. While I don't think the General did that, exactly (well, I don't want to think so anyway, because I dislike that sort of thing), I think it says something about him that he persisted in seeing Izayoi in spite of his own position and family. He probably took advantage of that weakness as a matter of course.

Sorry, I rambled.
