Are you going to do the Seattle Marathon? I've signed up for a team at work to do the 1/2 marathon walk. :)

doubtful... i did the half which was ok, but everyone I know that does the full says it's quite brutal.

How is it brutal? Elevation gain, temperature, something else? Late summer / early fall would be when I'd be about ready for a marathon, and I was looking at either that one or the Seafair marathon, depending on how my training goes. I do my running up and down Capitol Hill currently, so I'm not too worried about elevation gain, but if there's something else, I'd want to know about it...

the weather... it's always crap. and it has some gnarly uphills right at the end. i'd look into the Portland one if I were you.

BTW, what kind of foot pain are you having? I had a lot of foot pain (er, some) during my last marathon training period -- it felt kind of like the broadest part of my foot, just before my toes was getting squished. Only after my long runs. Nothing ever came of it, but I never quite figured it out. My fear was a metatarsal stress fracture but obviously it turned out fine. Also, it went away once I started tapering. Ahhh, tapering! (the best part of marathon training!)

it's mainly in my arches and above my metatarsals on long runs.

i had metatarsal pads installed in my insoles yesterday, man it feels weird... like a flat stone in your shoe. It felt ok yesterday, but today i have ankle pain... something I never have. Fucking feet are complicated!
