This Sucks!!!

Power is out again for like billionth time, this time for 2 days at least, cuz some ass wipe hit the line with an earthmover 74 times or something. So we are all looking for space to sleep in the office and we have to be here at like 6 am. Sweet!!! So I went back to my room to get pillow, washing materials etc. and it was over 100 degrees inside

At one point our power was out for 11 days when our generator exploded. The officer's quarters and senior billets were also mysteriously unaffected. Our buildings soaked up the heat and were like ovens at night, so we ended up sleeping on the roof or on top of Humvees:

It's Normandy's sister post, the lovely FOB Gabe! I remember hearing once that Gabe was the second worst post in theater, and we didn't believe it. Then they said Normandy was the first and we decided that maybe they were right...

It is. There was a survey done last year about living conditions in Iraq around the different FOBS and Normandy was dead bottom along with Gabe and Echo which has shut down from what I heard. I hated my entire time in Normandy and the only time I had wish i was back there was over election day when the commander decided to send me on a 3 day trip to the Muqdaiyah JCC to run a radar

And how about the bright young thing who goes out and opens up the electrical panel and flips on the breaker because he has no power in his one little room, never thinking that 3 cans down there's an electrician up to his elbows in cables and just by sheer dumb luck doesn't get roasted alive?

We had a couple near misses like that, we were very lucky that none of our contractors got turned into crispy critters.

Do people leave their brains back in the States when they come over here?

How long have you been in the military? You should know that most of these people never had brains to begin with. ;)
