Have you tried looking for a job where you can either work from home or work online?

A friend of mine earnt a decent wage moderating a bingo chat-room part time. It sounds crazy, but for four hours a night every other night, it paid pretty well.

In any case, don't give up hope, even though that's easy to say. I'm job-hunting too and I know how hard it is. Is there anywhere locally that is taking on temporary Christmas staff? You probably don't want to work retail, but at least it would be cash coming in.
Also, I'm looking into doing volunteer work right now. It doesn't pay, but it would get you experience and friends and it would be something for your resumé. And heck, they might even want to hire you eventually.

Close to home? Yes. I haven't thought of working online before. I'll have to ask about that. I'll be willing to work retail, just that it's tough trying to snag those.
