Calling Shadow a Stu is like calling Holden Caulfield or Nakago a Stu. THEY'RE TOO MESSED UP TO BE STUS. ;_;

That assumes that being a stu is a bad thing. There's a legitemate archetype (well, trope is more like it) that most of these characters who are called stus fit into... that bad fancharacters also fit into as well. Shadow is the quintessential gary-stu... but he's a very responsibly and well-written one, if one whose role in the story is at risk of bloating to bad fancharacter proportions. Doesn't look like it's going to fall that way though.
