Good luck on not getting delayed (you're gonna need it on chicago to nyc. I've never taken either half of that trip without a multi hour delay =( )

Even with the delays though, it's an awesome way to travel.

I think I'd enjoy it even more now that I have an intarwebs capable phone. =)

And nyc is awesome I look forward to the pics and hope you gents have a rockin' time.

Ya pretty excited!!

Well the first leg is Chi to WDC, so perhaps it might be better. But it IS Amtrak so delays are part of the deal and have been budgeted in accordingly!

yeah, stupid Amtrak, being completely unable to keep the trains running on time. Where's Mussolini when you need him? (just kidding!)

seriously, though, why are they so horrible at keeping things on time? You'd think they could pretty easily just budget more time into their schedules, and thus reduce the tardiness issues.

Because they don't own the rails and get bumped by coal shipments. That's my understanding anyway.

Also ubuntu's wireless can suck my nads. If it wants to be a plug & play operating system these days it has to fix that. It makes me sad that it doesn't work.

Well the problem is the chipsets in lappy are too new for good support - alas Windows still drives the market in this respect. (ya I left the Vista install even though is slower than whale turds) However, one I got the 2.6.25-10 kernel compiled and the appropriate proprietary firmware copied, it did start working without much fighting at all.

...and was way way easier than Fedora for getting ANYTHING working...
