On being away from home

I moved apartments over the weekend.  Only a block away in order to gain a roommate, but it’s not the distance one drives that is the main cause of stress when you move, but the packing, movement of heavy objects and the slow unpacking/adjustment of new environments.

::hugs:: I know that pain, and I wish I could help with yours.

The numbers of people looting cannot be as high as the numbers of people with brooms, the people cleaning up and helping in all kinds of big and small ways from making cups of tea for strangers to passing along a good LJ post to a Radio 4 program's blog and getting some sensible voices out there. I was unsettled and unhappy Monday night, but by now I can't help but see the selfish, violent minority that have wreaked havoc as the tiny sliver they are next to the reasons I am happy to be in this country.

I'll go put the kettle on, shall I?

Kettle is definitely on. I have drunk SO MUCH tea the last couple of days!
