Have I mentioned how much I hate the site layout of LJ? It's all a huge mess.

Yup. And the people that are in the middle of trying to fix it have all just been fired.

All the discussions I had with Greg Kennedy and Stacey in Design and elsewhere made me really hopeful about the future, the three of them were doing so much to fix all these issues. Now they're gone. Sure, their Russian replacements might be just as good, but it'll take them months just to get up to speed with the issues, let alone move forwards towards fixing all the issues, and there's no time for a proper handover.

Um, part of the encoding thing is likely because delicious uses western european, while LJ (correctly) switched to Unicode ages back. Which means some of your entries are on the wrong encoding :-(

As are mine. Been too busy to actually do much though (by "too busy" I actually mean "slept most of the day after taking Shrub to school as I'm knackered" but have been amusing her downstairs and tidying the living room back to where the stuff should be sans tree).

DVD players are made to die, I think. We have had three in seven years. And while I have watched the price drop each time, and the things it would play increase, it is annoying that they don't last. Whereas I have had two VCRs in twenty years, and that has a lot more moving parts (if a lot less hi tech components)

With any luck, my current DVD will live until Blue-Ray players are affordable. And if not, my laptop can play them.

I mean, we have a lot of Region 1s, but mostly region 2, and anything's better than watching Dave over and over again. How can you get it to me?

I have a wireless router going spare at the moment, if you'd like it.

I might vey well do that. What're the specs? Does it also have ethernet?

It's a Phillips thingamajig, never actually used it as wireless as I had all that loveley network cable taped to the wall in my old place. I think it's b/g, I'm sure it's not n.

If you're in the pub Friday, I'll bring it along (I have no knowlege of plans for Friday but I assume a pub trip will be likely). Otherwise, we're going to try and finish Descent at sad club next week so I'll bring it with me then.
