Dumb Laws in New York:The penalty for jumping off a building is death.
I just really really want to work that into an RP plot somehow. It's just a shame dumblaws.com is so unreliable. I mean, it has the bale of hay for taxis law on it. Still, it'd be nice if I could somehow work this into a plot for Mel. Somehow

Either an easy or impossible law to enforce, depending on how you look at it!

Well, if you jump off a short building, you might not die.

I would suspect that this law was droppe from the books once and for all when NY stopped having a death penalty back in mid-20th century. AFAIK, the list of capital crimes in this state is very short, mainly involving things like killing a cop or murder during the commission of another crime.

But there is much comic potential to such a prosecution. I can easily see a Python routine built around this.

And how are they defining jumping "off" a building. Would jumping off a small wall or out of a ground floor window count?
