Goody Day Sunshine

Every second person in the East End of London was out and on the towpath on Sunday. I moved the boat from Limehouse to Victoria Park and found myself having to strip down to a t-shirt - astonishing at this time of year - and don a hat it was that warm. After fighting my way through the crowds (yes crowds) of people in each lock on the way up, I was ( Read more... )

Who is to argue with the incredibly gay florist? I thank you for your (and his) advice :)

In your climate it might be different, but I thought bulbs had to be planted in autumn to come up the following spring.

I thought so too, especially as all the bulbs are flowering in the meadows right now. We'll see though, maybe I can pick up some adolescent plants instead of bulbs.

Strange, people's behaviour. When I walk anywhere, I always make sure not to look into people's gardens, etc. so as not to disturb them. I thought this was common sense. *rollseyes*

Yes, I thought so too however people really forget themselves around boats. They lean right in to what essentially is my front door and ask stupid questions like 'is this your home, do you live here alone?' etc. I understand that it's a novelty way of life but it's really intrusive for me and it makes me angrier than I usually am ;)

It's even weirder in London because go out of their way to NOT engage with other human beings so that when they land on your doorstep and insist on chatting, staring and asking questions, it feels even stranger than it would anywhere else :)

I wouldn't start to worry until you appear in london guide books as an 'attraction' - or maybe you can charge to show people round?

That's almost exactly what I muttered under my breath but it was more to do with 'you wouldn't be trying to chat to me on the Tube so why am I suddenly okay to harrass on a boat'.
