Yes, I thought so too however people really forget themselves around boats. They lean right in to what essentially is my front door and ask stupid questions like 'is this your home, do you live here alone?' etc. I understand that it's a novelty way of life but it's really intrusive for me and it makes me angrier than I usually am ;)
It's even weirder in London because go out of their way to NOT engage with other human beings so that when they land on your doorstep and insist on chatting, staring and asking questions, it feels even stranger than it would anywhere else :)
