Goody Day Sunshine

Every second person in the East End of London was out and on the towpath on Sunday. I moved the boat from Limehouse to Victoria Park and found myself having to strip down to a t-shirt - astonishing at this time of year - and don a hat it was that warm. After fighting my way through the crowds (yes crowds) of people in each lock on the way up, I was able to attempt to relax in the afternoon.

A lucky towpath find of a pot full of decent soil enabled me to plant up the rest of the seeds, so it shouldn't be too long till I'm eating my own salad plus I'm keeping a sceptical eye on the potato plant waiting for signs of action from it. Is it too late to plant bulbs? I have no idea. I'd love some colourful daffodils as well. We'll see.

Hunkering down to read on the bow after giving it a good mop out and clean up, I became a canal side novelty. People would stop and talk, fine, but one group actually stayed and stared. I had to tell them I wasn't tourist attraction, I was just sitting outside my home reading. I find it stressful having such full on attention during the warmer months. I understand that everyone wants to connect with what looks like an idyllic lifestyle but they make it very un-idyllic for loners like me!

It was nice to wake up to a sprung clean boat and for all my whingeing, I do still love it, plus ‘this too shall pass’ and it'll be winter again soon hah hah hah.
