"Take off your corset and spread out..."

I am returned from Sheffield, and the university has just been bumped up from bottom of the pile to third in line. If Durham don't respond positively, it will most likely be my second choice. The English Department was just brilliant. But that's not why I'm posting today...

You may remember my small explosion of squee a while ago when I learned I ( Read more... )

OMG, you I love. Did you have a good seat?

Yes! The pearls were just pure awesome! With that and the nail varnish and the clothes-swapping I thought they made a really quite groovy statement.

Did he catch the bouquet when you saw it? And, oh, the LIFTING of the bench...

I liked how the Orlando/Rosalind kisses went on for a really, really long time - guh, me too. Made their passion really believable... especially with the festooning of poetry and the rocker-type arm lifting he kept doing that made me flail and damage people sitting next to me :D

And wasn't the singing just beautiful? That scene with Jacques and the men building the shelter just made me go all shivery. A

Haha, the apron... I really sorta loved Celia's costume, and want to own her boots.

Did you lurk at the stage entrance at all? I wanted to, but when I saw how tired they all looked after the Talk Back I felt a bit cruel. Those people needed sleep...

(and can you tell I'm still high on this play? Coz I totally am)

Well, Shakespeare wasn't exactly the straightest chap around so...

But I'm so ridiculously jealous of you getting to see Sam wrestling without his shirt... and of course the whole play which sounds awesome, but mainly it's the wrestling.

Thanks for posting about it, I read with much interest and vicarious squee. You should link to this on robinhoodbbc they do accept posts about actors in other roles and there surely are Much fans out there who would love to read about this more...

Well, what with that and the apparent Antonio/Bassanio unrequited gay love of the Merchant of Venice I am inclined to believe that Shakespeare was one of the original English slashers ;)

(hee! I can't remember if I put it above, but he kept calling Man-Rosalind "pretty youth" which must be incorporated into fic somewhere so I can remember how lecherously Sam said it. If there was wrestling in this fic, I would die and go to heaven right there.)

And yeah, I'll definitely do that link thing... I wasn't sure about doing it, but if they accept actorly posts it is my duty to spread the squee ;)

:g: guess you've never heard the line about 'if they're called Antonio they're automatically gay' in Shakespeare plays? (seriously, Twelfth Night, Merchant of Venice, the list goes on...)

And heh, the 'outside of sherwood' tag is tere for a reason.

Wow 0_0 I had never heard that... I'm going to need to read me some more Shakespeare...

And did I not tag it right? *panics* I haven't tagged it here, but I'm sure I did in the com...

Touchstone looked up to the signer and went, "ready for this?" and then HURTLED through the last bit of speech, which the signer also whipped through as fast as he could, and got a round of applause from the audience as well as all the cast on stage. Brilliant!

*ROTFL* Awe bless. That must have been awesome.

I am so envious of you. Thank you for posting this review. The play sounds amazing.

Yeah, the signer was just amazing. Every single line of that play he had memorised... and he was ready to stay behind to translate the talk back thing too, but nobody needed him so he got to go home and have a lie down.

And you're welcome, it was huge fun to remember it all. GO SEE! :D

...bare feet? really?

And the wrestling is evil (did an all-girl production., got landed with the role of Charles and ended up whacking my head on the floor).

I'm off to sulk because I'm stuck in London. and broke. :sigh: will have to save up for the Globe season.

...bare feet? really? - yep. And on bare boards, too. He was a brave soul.

Ouch, that wrestling doesn't sound so much fun...

Well, fortunately it was the last night, and on the point where Charles is supposed to get injured so badly that he has to be carried off. Realism at all times, darlings.
