Where: Phoenix’s office When: After this Who: Maya Fey, Kiba, and Phoenix Wright What: Maya starts taking people in. Phoenix finds out much later. Warnings: None
[Phoenix comes into the office much later, looking rather beat. It felt good to be ‘home’ where it was warm and where he felt somewhat safe. That, and now that Maya was in the city he had someone to come ‘home’ to.]
Well that could have gone a lot better-
[Before he can continue whatever he was going to complain about, Phoenix notices Kiba on the couch. Well, that’s not something he was expecting to see.]
...Who is this and why are they sleeping on my furniture?
[Maya’s excitement was rather startling to say the least. He had no idea this Kiba guy was such a good friend of hers. Oh well, he was doing a good thing in the end. In fact, it may not be like home, but it felt good to get back into the groove of helping people in need again.
He gives Maya a small pat on the back, hoping that was enough to make her let go of him.]
You’re welcome, just calm down. You’re going to scare your friend away if you keep that up.
[Phoenix gives an understanding glance towards Kiba.]
Don’t worry, it took me a long time to get used to it, myself.
[Now that everything was decided, he figures now would be a good time to go back to relaxing...like how he wanted to do. Going to his desk, he sits down in the chair Maya was once sleeping in.]
Someone was messing with my stuff... Uh, Maya, go see if we have any extra pillows hiding somewhere. ...Or maybe even a sleeping bag.
[He looks over at Kiba again.]
Would a sleeping bag work? I'd really hate to have someone just sleeping on my floor...
[Maya heads off into the other room to go see if she can find anything for Kiba. A sleeping bag sounded like a great idea, why didn't she think of that earlier? Of course, if they knew he was a wolf they probably wouldn't be going through such trouble...although then again, Maya probably would give a wolf a sleeping bag anyway. Just to be 'extra warm' or any other weird reason she could come up with.]
[Now that he was left alone with Kiba, Phoenix couldn’t help but feel a tad awkward. Maya may have no problem striking up conversations with strangers, but it took Phoenix much more time before he felt that comfortable. Sure, there was the casual small talk with people in the city, but he was never left alone in a room with them.]
So, um, did you just get here? The city that is, not the office obviously...
[Oh, that doesn't please Phoenix for one second. Then again, what did he expect? She brought a stranger in, he should have assumed she went out again.]
Ugh, she's always doing that. I keep telling her to stay inside where it's safe, but she never listens to me. Although, what am I saying? I'm sure her sneaking out was a blessing in disguise for you. You wouldn't be here if she didn't.
You hit the nail on the head with that rules thing. I just wish I could say the same about her being okay. She's been attacked before and it's only a matter of time before she pisses off the wrong person.
[He gives a heavy sigh.]
I just want her to stay safe. Some of the people in this city are just terrible, terrible people.
[Maybe this Kiba wasn't so bad. Although Phoenix didn't think Kiba looked much like a fighter if only he knew, just the idea that he'd help out like that really meant a lot.]

[Because no one was that happy where he came from.]
...but I'm getting there.

[She lets go of Phoenix and turns her attention back to Kiba.]
I mean, you gotta get used to it if you're gonna live here, right~? Or else this wouldn't be very fun for you.

She doesn't seem like the kind of person to listen to rules. I'm sure she'll be all right.

[A flash of a fair-skinned man with one blue eye and one wolf's eye is briefly remembered.]
If they ever try something like that with me around, they'll regret it.

Look! I found them, Nick! I can't believe all our old stuff is still here! It's like this city likes us or something.
