Today's Tom Sawyer

Yesterday, I went with my family to eat blue-plate buffet in Murfreesboro in an old house converted into a restaurant. It was my brother's birthday. I stuffed myself crazy: mashed potatoes, asparagus, a variety of slaws and salads, hot wings, catfish, banana pudding, coconut pie, and ... a coffee to keep me somewhat alert for the 3-hour drive ( Read more... )

*blush* Thank you for saying that. I am really glad you enjoy reading it time to time. Odd you should mention it, though: when I was at my parents' place, I stayed up til 2 in the morning writing profiles of characters for a southern gothic queer novel I might try my hand at writing.

Writing a book-length story and developing the characters fully is really daunting to me, though. *shrug* But maybe I can try it just for fun. Who knows?

Hey! How d'you know 'bout Murfreesboro? Is where my youngest bro lives. We grew up 45 minutes due south of there.

The meal was good. And the cocunut filling? Yeah, I was running the coconut over my teeth with my tongue most of the drive back! :) If you can get y'all's asses out here, I'll treat you to dinner at this place, k? *spits in hand, offers it to shake*

Love this new icon, by the way. So very huggable.

Love the drag king story - and I agree with the above post, endorsing your talents as a writer of southern literature. I see that all through your writing, & I love that, even when I don't comment.

*grin* Thanks a billion, sweet bubba! I reckon I'd do better to take such kind words to heart and commit myself more fully to the writing some time. Maybe the heart's turning that way, who knows? *hug*

And perhaps if you leave the south, you might find even more inspiration to write what you know.

Hugs back at ya, stud. And make sure some minor character falls out of his chair at some point. Just sayin'...

But I would lose my first-hand material! *panics* :)

Minor? Maybe I'll have every character fall out of hisn's or hern's chair simultaneously to a cinematic sforzando! :) Haha!
