I have so many issues with the casting, the redesigning of the bridge (my God, it's an engineer's NIGHTMARE!), that all I can do is shake my head and think, "Well, maybe I'll catch it on cable sometime."
I tend to think of it like Shakespeare. You know the guy up there isn't really Macbeth, but you give him props for trying. The old guy, now, the one who made you forget you were looking at a simple human on a stage of dreams, now that was Macbeth.
my God, it's an engineer's NIGHTMARE!
*laughing* You would notice that! XDDD I saw a picture briefly and only got as far as wondering where the colors were -- it seems a depressingly grey, fluorescent sort of place. And it was too big, reinforcing how weirdly young all the characters seemed.
Nemesis was the one I couldn't stand watching (and haven't to this day) because it was the same actors in a self-contradictory, depressing story that wrote itself into a corner and died there, and killed off Diane Duane's Romulan culture in the process. This? From my point of view, it's fanfic with a big budget. XD
The actor-swap would be tolerable, if it weren't for the fact that half of them are there only because JJ likes them from past projects, and the other half for star power. And dude, I like Simon Pegg, but I don't think he stands an icecube's chance in Hell of playing Doohan's character
( ... )
Hm, that I didn't know, but it's not unusual, I suppose... And lol, Pegg. I can see him playing an immature, angry Scott, but no, he won't be Doohan's Scotty. Paul McGillion might have been able to get close, but the original was irreplaceable.
*winces* Not good... not good. Maybe they'll see the light later on, if the concept works out. What do you bet there will be an evacuation just to give characters a chance to complain about the doo-dad?
Yeah -- I wanted to see further into the future. (I'd root for an all-Vulcan starship, but not after what they did to them in Enterprise.) Stopping Star Trek history after Janeway? Not cool. They should totally hire us. ;)
