That's an interesting explanation for why Merry was so flamingly angry with Pippin in the movie.

I'm glad you let them be together once before they have to be separated. And it was a nice touch to have Merry realize that he needed to have someone to take care of - and that he needed Pippin even more than Pip needed him.

Good first story for the fandom!
