To other cities who think they know winter danger:

Yes, yes, you measure your snow in feet. But we get FREEZING RAIN. Brian and I just skittered to the street to check things out, and there is a solid inch of perfectly smooth ice on the street. I can walk on the snow and not sink in, it's THAT thick. I know this because I chipped a hole in the snow and measured the ice ( Read more... )

I'm not attempting to go to work today and I live a mile away AT MOST. If Jason decides to try to drive to work, I'm going to smack the shit out of him and barricade the door. It is super ugly out and will only get worse before noon, with more ice and 4 - 6 more inches of snow. Glad you're not going anywhere!

One of the joys of believing your boss is looking for an excuse to fire you is being unwilling to stay home when the weather DEMANDS it. He texted Andy at 7 and was told to go in, and by 9 when he finally made it to his desk got a new message saying that he could stay home.

THANKS A LOT.

Brad got to stay home - the joys of working for a University. When we took Teller out at 10 or so, he could walk on the ice. Ugh. He's at home today w/a puppy who's being a little bit of a punk.

Dude, ALL WE HAVE HERE IS ICE.

Everything is coated in a thick glaze of ice. And the morons here come in two forms:

O NO SHUT THE METROPLEX DOWN!!!

or

I GOT ME A BIG OLE TRUCK LET'S GO 95 DOWN THE SIDE ROADS.

Almost (ALMOST) makes me miss the snow!

Almost.

Stay safe!!

The ice is so PRETTY, I almost don't mind that the ash tree in our back yard is shedding branches like leaves. Lovely thick glazes of ice are heavy!

Steer clear of the truck driving crazies! They give normal truck owners a bad name.

kroger/ogre doesn't close for anything apparently. Only five people showed up today in my department, and I wasn't one of them because they gave us the option of taking a vacation day if we didn't want to attempt not dying on the street. how nice of them.

What, you didn't want to die in a crash while getting a ticket for being on the roads for a non-emergency reason?

Slacker.

turns out only people whose shifts started later in the day really matter, they got paid by the company to stay home.
