Once again I'm focusing my attention on picking girl names while Brian thinks about boy names. And I think we have a lead- I really like the name Helen, and Brian is considering it, though he prefers Helena. My problem is it turns out that Eleanor is a variant of Helen. Still, our Eleanor goes by Nora. Would it be too weird to have two kids ( Read more... )

Even though she goes by Nora, if you mentioned that the full name was Eleanor, the "Ella" sound would point out the similarity. Possibly. Plus, what if number two found out that the name was a derivitive of her older sisters?

Don't get me wrong, 3 like the name Helena- I'm just playing devil's advocate.

Okay...I know you're thinking girl and I found a name I really like but probably won't get to use....

mull it around.

Imogen(e)... or Emmagene

here is info about the name: Imogen, Imogene (IM o gen) This name was coined by William Shakespeare, for his play Cymbaline. It is a misspelling, or misrepresentation of a Celtic name, recorded as Innogen. Perhaps it comes from the Irish Gaelic word inighean meaning "daughter."

I think it's very pretty. If you don't use it and I have a girl, I might end up using it (though I doubt it because I have a girl name picked out)

We've got girl names coming out our ears, so I doubt we'll be taking suggestions for those, it's BOY names that are hard. I really love Beverly, and Brian likes Stella, but I'm afraid either of those would make our house too old-style-name themed. We're thinking about Jeanne (Jean) for a middle name, after his dad's mom (who I adore), but I think that would be weird since Nora's is Jane, and they're so close. I really should post again about the names we're considering.
