After another day of not being able to put the baby down, at ALL, I took another step towards becoming an unintentional crunchy and ordered a sling. For the past 72 hours nursing has been the only thing that would keep her quiet, and quite frankly I think my nipples are contemplating putting in their two weeks notice. Let's hope this thing is a ( Read more... )

This seems to be a common-ish theme in mar08babies too ( ... )

I just requested to be added to that community, you should see me there soon!

She does really love sleeping on her side, actually the easiest way to get her to sleep is to swaddle her, then side-lying nurse her until she's out, then I roll away and let her sleep in the middle of the full bed. Once she's totally conked I'll go back and move her to the crib.

I used the lanolin a lot when I first started nursing, but since I healed up I stopped. Sadly, I think it's time to pull it out again. I've also started burping her more, because sometimes she'll just start wiggling like CRAZY, pulling her head back, and start to cry, even when she's still latched. The stretching is NOT a fun feeling, but I think that means she's got a bubble she needs to get out, because burping her usually calms her down.

We've got Mylicon drops, and have used them a few times with mixed results. She certainly loves the taste.

I'll give your other suggestions a try. Thanks for the great comment. :D

Oh, and I bet if your husband was the one feeding the baby he might feel a little better about the tree hugger look. Mine rolled his eyes when I told him I ordered it, but honestly I couldn't care less. If it quiets her I'll figure out a way to shower in the damn thing.

Frankly, I can't see why a sling would get such a bad rap -- it looks like a great way to securely free up at least one hand while keeping the baby quiet and happy. But then, I've always been a fan of hands-free load-carrying alternatives. Just make sure you switch sides so you don't injure your back :)

Not to mention, I don't think you could've custom-designed a more perfect fabric for you!

Yeah! Isn't it pretty? There were several others on the site I contemplated because they were pretty and different, then I realized it would be silly to pass up one that is so exactly what I like just to try something new. I can always order a second one if I really like it, that way one can be in the wash and one can be in use.

FWIW, I love my Moby. I haven't figured out how to nurse in it yet, but when he's sleeping, I at least have two hands to do something fun like laundry & dishes. (Woot!)

It's also handy for shopping. Did I mention shopping? Shopping goooood. =P

Was it an instant success, or did you have to work at it to get him to like it? I could really use at least SOMETHING to come easily. And I could also use a shopping trip. I've been lusting for Ikea for years, and we finally got one in Cincinnati. It opened the DAY Nora was born.
