Much Obliged, Jeeves
I leaped like a rising trout, to the annoyance of Gus, who had gone to sleep on my solar plexus. Words failed me, but in due season I managed three.
'Much obliged, Jeeves.'
'Not at all, sir.'

Jeeves And The Tie That Binds
- For I may hope, may I not, sir, that you will allow me to remain permanently in your service?
- You may indeed, Jeeves. It often beats me, though, why with your superlative gifts you should want to.
- There is a tie that binds, sir.
- A what that whats?
- A tie that binds, sir.
- Then heaven bless it, and may it continue to bind indefinetely.

Thanks very much! Is that all the difference that there is?! I though it would be more than a few lines.

Definitely prefer the American version. I shall have to write those lines in at the end of my "Much Obliged". I second the question as to why two different conclusions exist though.

Forgive a poor, ignorant fangirl, but does anyone know exactly why there are two different endings? I'm always curious about these kinds of things. X3 If anyone knows, I'd be much obliged!

I think it's because the American editor (or or agent or someone like that) wanted a better explanation as to why Jeeves destroyed those pages regarding Bertie. So Wodehouse wrote the alternate ending.

Ah, thanks! ^^ Yeah, we can't seem to stand loose ends, can we? Heh, I wonder how Wodehouse felt about it.

We've had some awesome conversations about this very phenomenon.

Back in 2006

Back in March 09

The Tie That Binds is the only American version of the Jeeves books that I have because of this little bit of slashy joy.
