Hmm...

So in my unemployed hours now, I have lots of time to waste during the working hours. So last night, my mind was thinking about favourite movies and it led to me thinking about the Clueless franchise and how well I bought into it (books, the movie, the hurricane of fashion inspired by the movie, the music, the tv show)...and lo & behold...there was ( Read more... )

Say what you want, if you mean it in jest, it should be understood...if you don't...well,that's still your prerogative. True enough, I still get a bit riled when someone flashes the "N word" in front of me but that's b/c I'm fucking annoyed w/ black people using it then whining like little bitches b/c somebody white used it. Um, you kept it going, you deal w/ it. Now STFU and STFD.

FAG DOES MEAN CIGARETTE and they can't take that from me. *coughs*

So I was amassing possibly offensive phrases that people use on my way down to getting cinnamon ice cream ("retarded," "schizo," "bipolar," "gay," etc.), and if you took away all of our offensively driven "That's so (blank)" and "You're so (blank)" our language would be really dull.

I couldn't agree more. It's the flavour of language where you take something that was once completely offensive and twist it in a new way or just take plays on words. It's the beauty of it all and seriously, I thought this country was backing off the hyper PC bullshit. I understand being sensitive but this is a bit much.

Funny the things you find when watching the television! I never knew there was a campaign thing like that!

And boy do I remember the Clueless days. >.> I was engulfed in it, too. Hah!

I've only seen it on The-N, as in the times I do watch anything on Nick or Disney or even Cartoon Network, I've never seen such an ad...not even on MTV. So I'm guessing they are aiming at the pre-teen to lower teen set whose shows are watched most by that network. If I hadn't randomly found old Clueless eps, I wouldn't have even stopped to look at that channel as I got over my Degrassi and Instant Star phase awhile back.

I think most people at a certain age and above got ganked into it. I remember a lot of morning shows doing 'Clueless Fashion Shows and I think that may have even been the start of MTV getting less obsessed w/ the music and more obsessed w/ Teens living glamourously.

Well yeah, they're definitely aiming at the younger audience. I wouldn't see them aiming at the elder audience. That kinda stuff is popular with the younger crowds.

I don't really remember the morning shows doing that but perhaps that's when MTV did do the switch around. It would make sense.
