The current update is around 5.500~ words. I anticipate this thing will double, if not triple, which is why I figured I'd post it in segments.Arthur wakes up to a knock on his door in the middle of the night. "What's with the betting?" Ariadne asks, around five months after Cobb has officially retired, only coming back for occasional consultations when Ariadne asks him very, very nicely. (Or when Arthur sends her to do so; he's not exactly a model for moral behavior, is he? Besides, Cobb owes him.)

"Just a fun way to pass the time," Eames says.

"And, I believe, a safe way to let Mr. Eames' rampant need for one-upmanship run its course," Arthur adds, which makes Ariadne giggle and Eames growl.

"By the way, Mr. Eames," Arthur says, grinning; "I will bet researching duty for the next month, that you can not, in fact, steal the key cards for the NIOR facility."

Eames grins at Ariadne and winks at Arthur. "And what do I get if I win," he asks, "considering that normally you can't make me do research without resorting to begging, and that you actually like it ( ... )

Arthur had been well aware that Eames wouldn't want to take a job with Harris, which is why he's been hanging on to it for a while, hoping for some game of one-upmanship important enough to bet the farm. It's been ten months since Cobb left; Ariadne had spent about three of them manipulating things so that she'd have an endless supply of caramel macchiatos, before Eames and Arthur made a pact not to bet on anything to do with her anymore. Yusuf had been even less subtle; they let him stab them with needles on a semi-daily basis and Yusuf knows perfectly well how to make those usually tiny pinpricks hurt like a bitch ( ... )

He's had a whole week of Eames barely talking to him to figure out how spectacularly he's fucked things up, this time, and to add insult to injury, Yusuf had shown up early, the morning after the bet had been made, looking like he'd spent maybe an hour passed out in a gutter somewhere after a full night's drinking. Eames is the only one who can get Yusuf to drink at all - nevermind that much.

"You know, you should have just asked him," Yusuf had said reproachfully as he pulled spare clothes out of the bottom drawer of his desk.

Yusuf hasn't said much else to Arthur this week, either, and all of Arthur's usual injection sites are now defunct due to bruising. He's been reduced to putting the cannula in the back of his hand, which is annoying because needle marks shouldn't be that visible.

The one thing Yusuf had said, after three days of silence, had been; "And if Harris gets to him, if he hurts him, Arthur, it's your body they're never going to find ( ... )

"Tell me no," Eames says into Arthur's ear, backing him up to the bed until Arthur is forced to fall back with Eames on top. "Tell me to stop," he goes on, and Arthur moans and bites his tongue and throws his head back when Eames turns him over onto his belly, pulling his hips up so that he's kneeling on his own bed ( ... )

Eames isn't small - he's got girth, even if it's not the longest cock Arthur has seen, and this is clearly something he knows, judging from the way he sinks into Arthur's body with almost agonizing slowness, never stuttering or thrusting, letting Arthur relax and accept him all in one long, continuous push of pressure.

Even as he bottoms out, he doesn't move, just leans down a little bit and kisses Arthur's collarbone, waiting for him to relax, waiting until Arthur wraps his legs around Eames' hips and rolls his own until he's got Eames just that half-inch further inside, and that's when Eames control shatters, Arthur's right behind him, and when they move together it's glorious, it's hot and fast and essential, and Arthur can't breathe, with Eames pushing into him again and again, big enough and right enough to obliterate the memory of anyone who's been there before and it's so fucking good that Arthur has to close his eyes and throw his head back and hope that Eames can't see the tears leaking out from beneath his eyelids ( ... )
