I think a lot of people ship Claudia and Finn simply because they are both around the same age, they're both protagonists of the novel, and because the text tells us they are destined for a dynastic marriage (if Finn turns out to be Giles, that is, which of course we don't know in the first book and possibly not even in the second ( ... )

(Yes, that is my desperate attempt to look on the bright side. "Optimistic" is not the word I'd use to describe my feelings toward the film.)

I have so much respect for her after reading this quote. It is ridiculous to sum up Claudia's entire character as "Finn's love interest" and one of my favourite parts of this series was that romance wasn't a factor.

Anyone calling Claudia Finn's love interest is high-larious. She doesn't give two hoots about Finn past keeping him alive (and at first, because his existence meant she wouldn't have to marry Caspar - so I can understand her desperation there). And of course you know I believe after then end of Sapphique Jared and Claudia proceed to make out forever. Pfft, after I'm done with my current fic, I'm writing one where the Warden totally catches them in one of their passionate mouth entanglements, and the only thing keeping Jared from being instantly KO'd is the fact that they would probably all die of Incarcer-rage ( ... )
