OK, I admit it. For years Lil had been throwing out food that I would have kept merely because it was past its 'sell by' date. Mostly lettuce. Why do supermarkets have to sell Cos in packs of two? Soft cheeses are also potential culprits. Mind you, I've never worried too much about expire-by dates, even for dairy (fortnight older than it should be yoghurt? Yum!), as long as the packaging is intact. Once opened/cooked however, I try to get rid of it within a few days.

In any case, I'm very sorry about your and Bren's misfortunes and I hope you feel much better soon.
